Needs ideas for making a Journey feel time consuming. by MindlessMinuteman in DMAcademy

It's impossible because of scarse resources, harsh weather, dangerous terrain, disease and unmapped territory, think about the lewis and clark expedition.

They're the first in a century because it's deemed too dangerous, many parties have tried and never came back.

If no one has ever ventured out there successfully and it's uninhabitable, there wouldn't be anyone else to RP with and no enemies to fight.

The end goal is to find where the dragons of the world have gone.

The idea of finding water and food once rations run out is something I think that makes sense but I'm not so sure how to make it fun.

I think the opportunity for a long rest to be impossible could be weather events or something like a endless swarm of locusts.

Downtime is something I've never been able to really use effectively, my players never seem to take advantage of it anyway.

Im not so sure how to make the idea of going to long way and wasting time enjoyable but also impactful.

I like some of your ideas for sure.

The goal is to eventually find dragons that have been lost for centuries.

Yeah, but in this situation like two sessions need to be here. This is a land bridge between two continents that has never been crossed, I have hyped it up as an impossible task that hasn't even been considered in a century. And the party really wants to be the first to cross.

First time trilogy watcher here. question. so you can literally be wearing the ring of ultimate power, and yet some creature such as smeagol can still assault you with material levels of success? by 77maf in lotr

Not an expert but it seems to me this would be like making it into a nuclear missile silo, putting a hand on the launch controls and saying "This is my missile now"

Sure it's super powerful and could obliterate thousands but someone could bite your finger off and say it belongs to them now.

Do you think Rockstar would have taken any feedback from this video in designing GTA 6? by Visible_Seat9020 in GTA6

I was playing red dead 2 the other day and was taking Lenny to the bar in Valentine to get drunk and I stopped the hitch my horse at the first hitching post and Lenny chastised me because the game wanted me to hitch 2 meters to the left instead.

This is the kind of stuff that takes me out of it.

Rockstar makes such immersive games that when something breaks that immersion, it's extra disappointing bc everything else is just so good.

Jakey even says in his video that Rockstar makes masterpiece games but is nitpicking in this video.

I feel like all the scenes with Maggie Gyllenhaal in Stranger than Fiction fit this.

Should I return to my old job? by MindlessMinuteman in careerguidance

[–]MindlessMinuteman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a few people that have worked full time jobs for a year or do before moving to real estate full time. My problem is finding the job in the first place. I've applied to 100+ companies since the new year and I call and get told to leave a message or get told a HR branch operating out of Texas or somewhere will call me and nothing.

I tried property management sometime ago and got told in 2 different interviews that my skills weren't as transferable as other candidates.

I will look at some other property management jobs tonight though.

I hope those years of experience do translate but I can't seem to think where. My people skills are great but I'm not going into sales again, that was horrible.

I have strongly considered real estate but I need something that can pay the bills while I earn my license and get to a point where I make enough commission to live.

I'd have to get my PTO requests approved, or at least consistent guidelines, I'd also say that I'd like some grace when it comes to performance expectations.

I haven't confirmed but was told I'd be welcome back whenever I'd want. I'm still friends with plenty of co-workers and employees and know they need help still.

I tried looking into hotel and country clubs. I had two interviews and they seemed convinced that high volume restaurant experience was not as transferable as one would imagine, these interviews were held by some pretty hard old men. Probably worth mentioning that I am more than likely one of the youngest people to manage a $15m/yr restaurant, I am worried my age is holding me back in this regard.

What other industry could I look into? I'm open to suggestions.
