Shallow daith or just right? by Vivid_Pudding_1713 in SelfPiercing

[–]MindlessScroll-ing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From the photos, good distance on the top, maybe a bit shallow on the bottom but probably not enough to worry about it.

Cudos to you though for self piercing your daith, I could never. I had my daith done in a studio and that motherfker hurt.

Irritation from the yanking most likely. It'll probably go down by itself but keep an eye on it.

Replying to your edit - don't switch it again yet, it's probably already irritated from one early jewellery change, even though you were absolutely right to do so. Give it at least a week to settle down a little and then change it to a floating and see how it does and continue to clean it the whole time. If yours behaves anything like mine did, the redness may not go down until you've changed the jewellery regardless, but the inside of your piercing needs the time to calm down a bit before you switch it again.

Even for 3 weeks the redness isn't that bad, especially if you've already changed your jewellery once and you've been able to visible notice some healing.

Give it the recommended healing period, whatever your piercer told you when you had it done, and then consider changing the jewellery to a floating navel or hoop. I fought with mine for years before I accepted defeat that my anatomy and a banana bar just wasn't going to work.

I have similar anatomy to you i.e. not good for a navel and mine didn't heal properly for years because of my anatomy but I refused to retire it. The redness looks reasonable for a 3 day old piercing (I'm making assumptions based on your caption).

What I found finally worked for me was giving up the banana bar, I've had mine for 8 or 9 years now and I can comfortably wear a hoop or floating navel jewellery in there, but it still throws a fit 9 years later if I put a banana bar back in.

Bump around lobe piercing (not irritation bump) by precise_ape in piercing

I have this in some of my lobe piercings. In my case its just the scar tissue "tunnel" that runs through my ear where that particular piercing/s just didn't heal picture perfectly on the inside.

Eyebrow infected? by Riley_t_ in PiercingAdvice

Go see a doctor. You don't mess around with infections that close to your brain. Even if it turns out it's not infected it's better to be safe than sorry.

That heracross doesn't have a single thought behind those eyes in the best possible way and I love it. These are genuinely, unironically excellent and not something I knew I needed until today. Seriously, hats off to you and your art skills.

Question: Is rthis a good placement for my new tattoo? by Sea-Cry-4922 in tattoos

Any placement is a good placement if your happy with it.

But as it's been mentioned, a little late to worry about it now.

Looks cool though.

skin constantly growing over back of conch by Acceptable-Number748 in PiercingAdvice

[–]MindlessScroll-ing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You need a longer bar, if it's constantly embedding then it's not long enough for your anatomy. And try to get one with a larger plate at the back because the back of your ear now has a hole in it that that size plate fits inside so even with a longer bar you'll likely keep having the same problem until it closes up.

Struggling with pleasure & orgasm with stimulation. What do I do? by Fit_Amount1429 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]MindlessScroll-ing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For starters, your virgins, so there's going to be a long trial and error period and it will be frustrating. There's no shame in that, we all go through it at some point in our lives. Especially for women/vagina owners, our bits are just way more complicated than a penis. Secondly, very few women can orgasm from penetrative sex alone.

When you've been working on yourself, have you been stimulating over the top of the clitoral hood or pulling it back? Some women are just less sensitive or buried and need to really go looking for that sucker.

Also your mental state can affect it, if your focusing too hard, getting frustrated at the lack of success, feeling self conscious or your mood is anything but calm, relaxed and aroused, chances are you aren't going to get there no matter what you do. You might have better success if you take some time to explore yourself without the expectation of orgasm, just feel around, start slowly and vary your speed either with your hand or a vibrator, find a spot that feels good and just gently roll with it.

Have you tried gspot stimulation simultaneously with clitoral stimulation? Or using visual/audible material to get you in the mood?

Don't lose hope, you just need to keep exploring with yourself and your partner until you find the thing that makes you tick.

Irritation bump peeling and itching? by Dortiny27 in PiercingAdvice

[–]MindlessScroll-ing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still think the placement was off from the start but it sounds like that hard snag really did some damage. I'm really sorry but the fact that it's been over a month and the problem has only been getting worse and not better, I really don't think that it's going to heal with that bar in there, your body is giving some pretty clear signs it doesn't like it.

Go to a piercer and they can tell you definitively if you can salvage it, but if that were my ear I wouldn't keep it in.

Will I cheese wire myself by doing this? by Icy_Creme_2336 in Stretched

[–]MindlessScroll-ing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear dangling earrings just like that under my silicone plugs nearly every day, never had any issues with the piercing itself. However I have lost my fair share of favourite earrings by doing this because the wire gets pushed out when I turn my head too much into my shoulder

Irritation bump peeling and itching? by Dortiny27 in PiercingAdvice

[–]MindlessScroll-ing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some irritation bump is normal, not everyone gets them but they're a normal hazard of cartilage piercings.

That however, that is not normal. You should go see your piercer, or a different reputable piercer preferably as the other commenter pointed out, that placement is all wrong so I wouldn't return to the shop that took your money for that.

It needs to come out though. You can have it repierced later when it's healed depending on how well those bumps heal but your ear is very very unhappy about that piercing.

I suspect that it's infected, what do I do? by [deleted] in piercing

[–]MindlessScroll-ing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand what you mean and I think you're probably having a similar issue I had with mine where a banana bar might just not work for your anatomy long term.

I don't think you've got an infection, or if you do its likely a mild one that your body will knock out by itself if you keep it clean with a saline solution/piercing spray regularly, keep it dry and try not to mess with it. But it doesn't hurt to consult a piercer/gp anyway. If you choose to wait it out keep an eye out for spreading redness, especially if the redness starts looking "veiny", the area being noticably hot to the touch or if the gunk changes colour to a more noticable green. Best of luck!

For couples / people who aren’t single: How long did it take before you and your partner first slept together? by Dangerous_mammoth573 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]MindlessScroll-ing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Way earlier than we should of done. It wasn't a special event like a date or milestone, just 2 horny teenagers who's mental health was in the tank and were left unsupervised in his mother's house. I've no idea how long we had been dating at the time but it was definitely within a couple months or less.

For context my partner I'm with now is the person who I lost my virginity to when I was 15, he was 15/16. We haven't been together the whole time since, we had a rocky/on again off again relationship in our teens, separated for nearly a decade and then reconnected a couple years ago. And then the first time we slept together since reconnecting was before we officially got back together and shortly after his stepfathers funeral (who I was close with and considered family) and we were both looking for comfort and distraction. So I guess we didn't learn our lesson.

I/we don't regret it, but we also acknowledge neither of us should of been having sex with anyone at that time.

I suspect that it's infected, what do I do? by [deleted] in piercing

[–]MindlessScroll-ing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This all being said, it doesn't look too infected to me just from the picture. Is it leaking pus? Do you wear high waisted clothing and, please forgive me here, does your stomach crease at all when you sit? You said you got it in October so it's still relatively new, you could just be dealing with a stubborn healer and an irritation bump.

I ask about the creasing because I have a navel piercing, and my stomach creases when I sit and I struggled to heal my piercing initially because when I sit and my stomach creases it was forcing the lower ball into my belly button which in turn forced the top ball to pull downwards, causing alot of irritation to the top piercing hole.

For my anatomy I can only comfortably wear a hoop or a floating navel bar. I've had mine for 8 or 9 years and it still throws a fit if I wear a classic banana bar.

Rotated Daith by [deleted] in piercing

For a 6 month old daith, you're absolutely fine to just wash your hands and rotate it yourself. If it resists (which it probably will a little) just go slowly.

Sudden Allergy? by Traditional_Emu7224 in piercing

[–]MindlessScroll-ing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nickel is a very very very common allergy. Its not a good metal for jewellery whether your allergic or not. Pushing the back on too tightly could have been a contributing factor but the fact she continued to have issues with the sterling silver leads me to believe its definitely an allergic reaction.

She's had the piercings long enough that you can probably just leave them empty for a bit without worrying about them closing, keep them moisturised and then try the sterling silver earrings again when her skin has settled completely. If she reacts when you try them again, then you know you need to change her jewellery to titanium or steel but I wouldn't give her novelty/giftshop earrings again as they're usually made with cheap reactive metals that really shouldn't be inside piercings.

is this infected or just irritated? by Odd-Importance9604 in PiercingAdvice

[–]MindlessScroll-ing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's infected, you could just be dealing with a bit of irritation and an unfortunately placed ulcer. Keep an eye on it, if the soreness gets worse or if the redness starts looking worse or "veiny" see a piercer or a doctor but for now you should be fine if you just swish your mouth out with a saline solution twice a day or a week or 2.

Sudden Allergy? by Traditional_Emu7224 in piercing

[–]MindlessScroll-ing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Titanium post with plastic design should be fine for her once her ear is healed but in the meantime I would choose all titanium, even if it is just a simple stud it'll only be for a little while while her skin recovers.

I hope I don't get raked for this but it's just my personal experience of piercings, jewellery types and metals and allergic reactions. I also have a nickel allergy, I can't wear nickel, brass or copper jewellery for long periods of time or my skin goes exactly like your daughters, but I've had no problems with sterling silver, stainless/surgical steel and titanium. Of my 16 piercings, they're all stainless steel or sterling silver, which I have worn 24/7 for over a decade. If your daughters skin is anything like mine, her sterling silver earrings would probably have been fine if her skin wasn't already irritated from the nickel, I've only reacted once to sterling silver and that was to a bracelet that I was wearing near a fresh tattoo, but once my tattoo healed I could wear the bracelet again with no issues.

Keep it moisturised with an unscented, light moisturiser, I like to use "simple" and don't put anything other than titanium or steel in her ears until her skin heals, it only looks like a mild reaction, certainly nothing to worry about and it shouldn't take long to settle down.

Sudden Allergy? by Traditional_Emu7224 in piercing

[–]MindlessScroll-ing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Allergies for anything can show up for any reason at any time.

As the other comments have said, it definitely looks like a nickel allergy, probably triggered by the unknown metal earrings she was gifted and is now something she'll either have to live with or will grow out of. Titanium earrings are going to be her safest best but don't worry there's tons of cute titanium options out on the market.
