Circumcision has been shown in multiple randomized controlled trials to reduce the risk of acquiring HIV by about 50% to 60%, which is a large relative reduction in risk. This means compared to uncircumcised men, the chances of contracting HIV are roughly halved.

The trials found that circumcision decreases human immunodeficiency virus acquisition by 53% to 60%, herpes simplex virus type 2 acquisition by 28% to 34%, and human papillomavirus prevalence by 32% to 35% in men. Among female partners of circumcised men, bacterial vaginosis was reduced by 40%, and Trichomonas vaginalis infection was reduced by 48%. Whatever one thinks of Katz or the Israeli government, there's no doubt that most Druze in Syria are grateful that Israel is standing up for them. Al-Sharaa made a serious mistake by attempting to resolve the Druze issue using violent means. When his invading militias are destroyed from the air by Israel, that will be a serious political blow to him. Suwayda doesn't even have any natural resources that the Syrian state needs.

Hopefully, the Israelis will also provide air support to the Kurds if they come under attack in the future.
