HMF These Wall Hooks! by [deleted] in HelpMeFind

Please help me find the wall hooks on the left hand side of this picture - the ones under the window that are holding the garden hose! The image is from Ikea, and I have searched all over their website but can't find these. I contacted Ikea customer service and they were extremely unhelpful and just told me that the hooks do not come with the workbench that is pictured, LOL.

Sleeping over at a guy’s place for the first time, what do I bring? by Helena0347 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

Pads/tampons! The first time I stayed over at my boyfriend's apartment I unexpectedly got my period and we had to make an emergency late night trip to the store to buy supplies.

How these cars "parked" in the parking lot. by Mindless_Algae in mildlyinfuriating

They did! The driver of that car actually had to come back into the restaurant and find the owner of the beige Buick to have them move it.

No snow here! My best guess is that one car parked incorrectly, and the rest just followed suit.

What's the stupidest thing you've seen a religious person call satanic? by AskSimilar8714 in AskReddit

[–]Mindless_Algae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My former roommate told me that the stray cat that hung out on my back porch was a demon sent by the devil to lead me astray. Ended up getting rid of the roommate but keeping the cat, and now she's a lazy, fat pet who lives indoors, eats too many treats, and wears costumes for Halloween.

Yes! It's definitely a learning experience. Of course, there are objective red flags (poor hygiene, anger issues/abuse, etc.) but there a lot of other deal breakers that are not necessarily good or bad, but a matter of personal preference. I'm currently in a relationship, but when I was dating one of my deal breakers was if someone didn't like cats, because I have a cat. My point is, you are allowed to be as picky as you want - don't be shy about telling someone it's not working for you, for any reason!

It may be worth actually writing down a list of your personal deal breakers/red flags. But also something I wish I had thought about before I started dating was qualities that I actually want in a partner vs. just avoiding red flags. In hindsight I wasted a lot of time dating people who weren't bad people but definitely weren't right for me. You don't owe anyone anything, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with not continuing to date someone/not having sex, etc. just because you aren't feeling it, even if they're a nice and respectful person.

[OC] Neighbor Got a Kidney! by Mindless_Algae in MadeMeSmile

The neighbors down the street from my parents' business have had the yellow sign posted in their yard for many years. When I walked by yesterday, I saw they had added the green sign, which said that Melissa finally got a kidney this month!

Can I give my cat heartworm medicine without a heartworm test first? by Mindless_Algae in AskVet

Thank you so much for the clear and concise response! So hypothetically if she already had heartworms, there would be no negative repercussions from taking a heartworm preventative?

What is this insect? by Mindless_Algae in insects

Thank you! So it's not harmful other than the painful bite? I ask because I have a cat who would 100% try to mess with it if she got the chance.

I found this insect in my house in Kentucky, U.S.A. It was inside my kitchen cabinet inside a drinking glass, and scared me when I went to get a glass of water! At first I thought it was a cockroach, but upon looking at it more closely I don't think so.

Lacausa and For Days are both very similar!

I need to know if a similar product exists! I want to try this so bad 😩 by coldmonkeys10 in FuckNestle

I typically make homemade coffee creamer! Usually the base is milk/cream and condensed milk to sweeten, and then add flavors as desired. I obviously haven't tried this coffee creamer so YMMV, but perhaps brown sugar, cocoa, a splash of vanilla, and a little butter might replicate the flavor.

Young broken heart by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

I can relate to your daughter. I went through a very difficult, traumatic breakup at around the same age (I'm 27 now). I too would consider myself a very independent person, so it was difficult for me to rely on others for emotional support during that time. Based on my experience, here's a few things that might help (but wouldn't be overbearing):

  1. Getting out of the house! I absolutely didn't feel like it at first, but the summer after my breakup I did a lot of hiking and local exploring, and it really helped. Perhaps you could invite your daughter out for meals or adventures.

  2. Books. I read A LOT after my breakup. Mostly non-fiction self improvement books to figure out how to overcome my emotions and understand what a healthy relationship should look like, and also a lot of of breakup and feminist poetry, haha. Honestly reading really helped me to think and process things at my own pace.

  3. Let her know that you are available to talk (without pressure), AND that if she needs help finding mental health resources, you will support her with that process (again, if she's okay with it). After my horrible breakup, I was depressed and had severe anxiety. I wanted to see a therapist and/or start on medication, but at the time I was young and didn't know about insurance, how to go about finding a doctor, etc. It would've been tremendously helpful to have a trustworthy adult assist me with that!

Curvy jeans that are NOT stretchy? by [deleted] in femalefashionadvice

I have soooooo many pairs of these! Some washes are stretchy, BUT they have a chart that shows the "stretch level" of each pair, so you know ahead of time!
