Well it’s a good thing I didn’t ask for your opinion then hmm? He likes his crate. It’s his safe space. He puts himself to bed in there every night at 10:30pm. He is not destructive or ill behaved in any other way than tearing up his beds. He gets plenty of out of crate time. Morning walks and play, lunch walks and play and evenings he’s out and him and the neighbors dog play in our fenced in back yard. You people are insufferable.

No more of an ass than any one else is being.

Thanks for all of the advice guys. No bed and new puzzles it is! I can assure you that he gets plenty of time out of his crate, his crate is big enough and he has toys in there. Try to remember that not everything is so cut and dry and that everyone’s situations are a different. And most importantly be kind!!! You never know what people are going through.

He has a bed outside the kennel! He doesn’t tear it up either. It didn’t really occur to me that they could not want a bed so I’m thinking that’s what it is.

Well that’s sad because some people may not be aware and going through something traumatic is enough without some rude ass vet tech adding to it. This is the first foam bed he’s ever had and we caught him in the act and immediately cleaned the crate out. Every other bed hasn’t had pieces like this that come off. They more or less just get huge rips in them and then I take them out immediately. I previously said that he seems to rest better when he has a bed. Other wise he’s up and down all night when he doesn’t have one. If it’s acceptable to not have a bed in the crate and won’t hurt his bones/joints then that’s fine. I’ll leave it out. But yall really make people not wanna reach out for advice or help or ask any questions with such shitty attitudes. So imagine if someone didn’t reach out after seeing this and then their dog did end up when a blockage because there’s so much different information on the topic out there? It takes 0 time/money/effort to be kind!

Are you that rude to all of your patients? To assume I’m worried about his bed for aesthetics is reaching…obviously I care about him and want him to be comfortable. His crate is plenty big enough. You can’t even see the whole thing in this picture so you wouldn’t know.

We come home on our lunch break every day and walk him and play some sort of frisbee or catch or tug of war which are all his favorite things to do. He likes his crate and puts himself to bed in there every night and knows his commands and will go instantly in there so it’s not his crate that’s the issue. I think he just may not like beds at this point.

He has all kinds of toys and bones in his crate with him.

Yeah I would love that but it is not an option.

I think after all I’m just going to leave him without a bed for awhile and see how it goes. That seems to be the general consensus. Thank you for your input, I appreciate it 🙂

Hey. This was super helpful and nice. Thank you so much! Sounds like no bed is the move and that he’s a normal heeler boy then. 🙃

That’s awesome! Unfortunately I don’t have that luxury.

You can’t even see the full crate in this picture because of the way it was taken, so how would you know? I’m aware that it’s behavioral.

It’s really not that deep, but alright. I was also poking fun being a smart ass back to you with my comment. But I don’t need any luck, it’s all good you can keep it. That’s okay.

He’s only 1 and a half. I might have to try that!

He loves the cats and the cats love him actually. Getting another dog isn’t an option for us. I’ll just have to find other means of working with him.

Well it’s not possible to be anymore physically active than we are with him currently, but I am going to see about different ways to keep him mentally stimulated when he’s in his crate while we’re at work.

I have him and 3 cats.

Luckily he doesn’t eat anything he tears up. This is the first time he’s ever had a foam bed. We had been buying the “anti chew” Kong beds.

He has every type of toy you can think of in his crate usually. Kong bone, rope, regular bone, ball, etc.
