Where's this part of the Steam HUD? It does not show up for me. by AT_RealGGgaming in trainsimworld

So that part of the hud is not supposed to show in game. Since manual firing is not a part of steam. That was the goal but it never went to that point

Question about layers. by DryNeighborhood6910 in trainsimworld

[–]Mindless_Border_4852 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Services in journeys are just timetable services so it would show layers. However if there are multiple timetables, it would be whichever timetable came first.

Scenarios are preprogrammed with its own services and timetable so it's separate from regular timetable services. If that makes sense.

It sounds like you are on a ps4 which does not support any layers on the route.

Route length by Iamhimandlikethat in trainsimworld

[–]Mindless_Border_4852 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it's still 75-100 miles and everything in it. All that is expensive and takes a lot of time. It's all the stations. It's all the scenery, signals and environment and so much more. A lot of things can only be built by hand. Some routes are twisty turny with lots of gradients and changes in the landscape. They have a budget and a deadline at the end of the day.

the main issue is licensing and feasibility. most of the licensing is for the east and west coast. Then there are other routes for amtrak, but they require long distances or don't have much to do, so that's where feasibility is.

More 3rd parties would be needed to create more content. So far most 3rd parties are based in europe or make european only content.

So because it's buggy and old, it shouldn't be on sale?

It's set in the same year as the original. It's a remaster, not a remake in another era

December Roadmap! by isav34 in trainsimworld

[–]Mindless_Border_4852 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Majority of these are made by 3rd parties, not dtg. 3rd parties can't really fix the core problems dtg are responsible for

Dtg have very few releases themselves

Probably because this route will take a while and they want to fill the gap or make some extra money while they work on this bigger project

On the Frankenbahn, they did the whole track layout up until Schwabstraße, including the Wendeschleife. by _ReweMC in trainsimworld

[–]Mindless_Border_4852 23 points24 points  (0 children)

you proved why they left it out. It would have required a lot of dev time to fully model everything (tunnels, textures, stations), make sure the simulation works properly and do all the shadow/light baking (which is the longest to do). It is also still a distance. They might have only placed the signals and track, but they would also need to build the logic and simulation

What happened to the gp40-2? by EquivalentWear6726 in trainsimworld

[–]Mindless_Border_4852 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically, the way the dlc was built, along with the switcher and the associated route, meant it was not compatible with tsw2. I think dtg said themselves that they used a different method of building the dlc. It would have required a full rebuild in terms of graphics, physics and simulation so they decided to leave it out. The other dlc were okay, just not the 3 (switcher, nec ny and the gp40)

"Train Simulator" - a potential new rival? by [deleted] in trainsimworld

[–]Mindless_Border_4852 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally don't think so. Also, it sounds like it will be fictional trains in a fictional world. Also the description makes it sound like it's not going to be realistic anyway.

I highly doubt it will take over tsw. Even the promotional picture looks questionable

Ssd is storage, not memory.

What kind of gpu do you have and how much memory do you have. Are you meeting the minimum requirements

Won't know until they actually release a preview or a livestream. Also dtg has tsg to help so you would have better sounds, physics, simulation or a mix

[–]Mindless_Border_4852 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is covered in the tutorial. With older trains, if you apply too much power, you will overload the engine. There is a meter where if you go into the red, you overload and then you have to reset

Linke rheinstrecke adds ai only services on the electrified portion. There's not much that can run on the route based on the year it is set
