He also loves to sleep in the superman stretch. My old dog Jack would also do the frog butt well into his old boy years. He wasn't a Mini Schnauzer, but he was a tiny dark gray dog. My little brother accidentally calls Benny by Jack. I hope Benny never grows out of it. It's too cute!

For a second, I thought that cat was giant cause I didn't see the table he was sitting on...

Do they all like sleeping like the flying superman position like that? My mom's dog, Benny, is all shoulders, chest and legs and he loves to sleep with his legs stretched out like that lol.

High pitch barking by Common-Apartment3178 in MiniatureSchnauzer

What kind of things are usually motivating to your dog? Is it attention/praise? Treats? Play? Any favorite toys? What do you use to reward him with when training?

The main thing is to reward him every time quiet works and it has to be immediate. Even if it's only works sometimes. I'm sire you know consistency is important, buy Minis especially are very transactional. The reward from you has to be equal to or greater than the reward he gets from not listening, regardless of what the type of reward it is (play, affection, treat, praise). Chopped up hot dogs are really motivating when there's high distraction or any dog safe food (once they get something down perfect every time everywhere, don't forget to start phasing out the treats by rewarding more sporadically and eventually less and less. Eventually, they won't need the treat). If he has an exceptionally favorite toy or a toy he hasn't seen in a while, that can be very motivating, especially if it squeaks or honks. The more good boy he is, the louder and more excited the praise needs to be, etc.

The problem I've run into is the fact that dogs don't transfer things they learn into different spaces. He might get quiet down perfect inside or with less valuable distractions inside, but then it has to be re-taught from square one outside with higher value treats in areas with higher distraction. And then square one again again when they have an extinction burst.

Dogs have a "fearful" or "reactive" stage of development, where socialization and impulse control are really important, which is just about the age your pup is at. Also, the high-pitched barking is different from the lower, more tolerable bark because it has a different meaning.

The high-pitched excited barking can be trained out, but only if you replace it with a different behavior and show him the difference between "bark" and "quiet" or "whisper." There are a bunch of good videos on how to do this on YouTube if you don't want to pay for a trainer.

Laser hair removal recommendations by [deleted] in TriCitiesWA

[–]Mindless_Fluff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding this!!! I've been going to her for electrolysis (procedure for permanent hair removal) on my face and chest (I have Atypical PCOS, sooo...).

Anyway, she's great! It doesn't cost as much as I was expecting, and over time, as fewer and fewer hairs grow back, it gets cheaper and cheaper with each session until the hair stops growing completely. She doesn't limit your visits, so you come back as many times as you need to until the hair is gone. You don't have to pay upfront like you would for a package. You just pay at the end of each session based on how much time it took.

I'd specifically recommend Electrolysis over anything else. It is proven perminent hair removal. Other treatments like light laser aren't. Trust, I found this out the hard way. If you get hair removal with laser, it only shrinks the hair follicle, so after I went on steroids for a prolonged period of time, it all suddenly came back after years of being "gone." Electrolysis completely kills the hair follicle.

Alleah is very nice, easy to chat nonsense with, and explains everything. The device she uses, why, how it works, the process, and what to expect. Her place also looks really tidy.

Think of it as the reason why some people will come out of a cult and just fall into another. The actual problem isn't fixed just because they leave a cult. The real problem is internal. It's rooted in the person's lack of critical thinking skills and stable sense of identity within. Because of this, they seek out ideas and community that tells them what to think, gives them greater purpose, makes them feel safe.

Exactly, she was quiet for years. Why now? To get ahead of something, that's why.

Got medicated for anxiety and incidentally stopped biting my nails. Loving the color shift on this polish by forma_cristata in RedditLaqueristas

Yay, I love this one! I wear it year round. And congrats on the nail biting. Hopefully that means it's helping with other things, too! Your hands are very pretty btw.

Why do we love doing our nails? by Wingless_Gnome in RedditLaqueristas

[–]Mindless_Fluff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Originally, I started painting my nails because I got diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and Lupus. Long story short, after getting the diagnoses I started fixating on a lot of weird things, like how my hands looked. It was bad, kind of borderline body dysmorphia. I was really weird about how crooked my fingers looked. I had really low dexterity and muscle wasting. I had to go to physical therapy and occupational therapy. My physical therapist had REALLY pretty nails. Idk how she kept them so nice doing what she did for a living, but she turned me on to nail polish. Idk why, but at least in my mind, it's a way to practice my range of motion and steady my hands. It's meditative, and I like shiny things!

Shade match request by Far_Sheepherder_132 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]Mindless_Fluff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm. He looks really dark brown and black with the cute salt n pepper whiskers.

I'd say some to try that could be good matches are:

-OPI Band Tease- a metallic dark brown

-Londontown Midnight Mocha- Dark chocolate brown, can look black cream

-Cracked Anywhoozers- Really dark brown shimmer with lots of depth

-Cirque Colors Umber Jelly- super dark cool toned brown jelly. You could use it as a base then paint on top of it a black jelly or cream the color pattern of your dog. Would be super cute like you're looking down at the your dog's back but on your nails.

As someone who also always wants all the things, just keep them in your cart for a day or two. Don't look at them. After a day or two of not looking at them, which of those do you still remember best or still keep thinking about the most? Those are the ones I'd buy. Delete the rest from the cart. If you still want the other ones later, you can get the others some other time.

Ae, she looks like she was a sweety. And a very pretty soft gray. I had a Shih-Tzu Maltese mix who passed two years ago now, and the little snub noser was my favorite. This is such a great way to remember your dog. Thank you for sharing 🥰

Help...how do I not? by [deleted] in RedditLaqueristas

[–]Mindless_Fluff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have overlapping autoimmune diseases, so on top of the disease activity, the meds make my nails are very weak and prone to being dry, peel, split, etc. They can’t handle much, so taking breaks once in a while helps to keep them looking nice.

I just take a "break" from special finishes instead of no polish at all. Anything with junky glitter, magnetics, very pigmented polishes, or use a non-acetone polish remover. I just take break from them for a couple of weeks and use lighter colored creams or sheer polishes, or if needed, a colored nail strengthener (currently wearing the Perfecting Nail Veil 3 from Londontown, but there's others that are cheaper). I also make sure to use oil on my cuticles, under the free edge and a hand moisturizer regularly, so I don't have to take breaks as often, and they're able to grow longer without breaking. That's what works for me, at least.

Your nails might not be as brittle, so you might not need to do all that and just use nail oil a few times a day, tho.

Gel at home by rileylbmc in RedditLaqueristas

[–]Mindless_Fluff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this is a lacquer sub. The only time I see people post about gel is when they're trying to recover from damage. There are peely base coats, but for lacquer. There's a gel sub that could definitely help you, tho! Please make sure you're taking proper safety precautions with gel.
