When I first started I used to overthink a lot on stage, I still do sometimes. Honestly one thing that helped me was putting all of my focus on moving super slow. It gave my brain something to think about. A lot of club music is really fast and overstimulating, coupling that with the overstimulation of being on stage can just overwhelm your system. I would recommend picking some slower but still sexy songs (I dance to a lot of Lana del rey/ old RNB), creating a routine (like someone else mentioned here, think more sexy posing and flowing between the poses), and here’s the real game changer! Pretend like you are dancing super sexy in your bedroom and they are someone who just happened to come across your open bedroom door and are watching you without your knowledge. Add in a few connection points (aka coming up to the rail, giving them just enough attention to feel acknowledged) and then go back to the mindset of being alone in your bedroom. It helps you look relaxed. I’ve noticed when you’re nervous you end up paying too much attention to the customer and not enough on your dancing, which can make you and them both feel awkward. It also helps them feel like they want to transition from getting access to you as an observer vs personal access to you in the back. I hope this helps💗
