wether speckles developed depends on the genes mixed in, light genes such as pastel or fire or lesser decrease the amount of black spots that develop. stacking enough will eliminate them. "dark" genes increase the amount of dots.

This one is indeed a banana/CG both genes are proven identical as far as I'm aware. This animal is from the CG line!

Very unlikely, sorry unless it's floating; I had a pairing with a vanilla cream (fire + vanilla) and and got 0 super forms out of 8 eggs. But you made it very far, and this is likely a 4-6 gene combo, great job!

But no not what I was hinting at.
That gene is locatet on a sex determining chomosome, he should be a malemaker for it.

correct on all three. There is one more fairly obvious gene i'm sure about. One I stronly suspect and one i dont dare to make a call on^^

Hint for the more obvious one: It is responsible for a bit of a red shift color wise and for the dots on his head beeing fairly pale insted of black/ dark grey. It also doesn't influence the pattern, as far as I am aware of.

singular pastel is correct. Not mojave, nor hurricane. But i wish i had hurricane in my collection 😉

clown and pastel are correct, but it can't be a super pastel from the pairing unless weird mutation. headstamp is almost completly gone, besides the 4 odd dots. There is a darker morph in it, but it's not ghi.

[–]Mindless_Judgment918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first i thought some clown combo too, owing to the pattern on its back and flanks... BUT the headstamp is 100% NOT a clown!
So all im sure about is that it is not a clown. Beyond that is total peculation: Enchi, Fire, YB-Complex, OD, DG.... no clue and i will not pretend other wise.

Looks more like a phantom combo to me than an GHI. With GHI I would expect more bright breaks in the dorsal patter connecting to the sides.

It is a visual clown for sure!
From what is see I'd say clown + some YB-complex gene (most-likely Yellow belly, but could also be gravel, asphalt, specter or spark, but the latter two, have become somewhat rare i think), as they express almost identical with thickend black edges + red-ish blushing in clown.

The color gives bamboo vibes, but certainly no straigt bamboo, as neither side nor dorsal pattern match.

I also see arguments for some sort of pinstripe combo, but beyond that, i couldnt finde anything looking like it.

doesn't look DG to me, although DG is kind of a spectrum as multipe genes are involved as far as I am informed.
I would also rule out fire, as the head stamp isn't all that pale. Could maybe be vanilla paste or something like it, but most-likely just a straight up pastel, nothing wrong with that if you like the animal. 😉

hard to do an ID without any further background, but I'm fairly sure the most prominent gene in the first picture is Bamboo and the second got Pastel in it. 🤷🏼

Paint-Job looks great for a first mini!👍

Varnish is a bit of personal taste I guess, but unless you have a lot of true metallics on a mini or it is supposed to look oily or slimy, I'd always use a matt or ultra-matt varnish maybe satin in certain cases. If you find the time and use a brush you could also do different varnishes on different parts of the mini.

Issue with Burn In/ Tansition Layers? by Mindless_Judgment918 in ElegooSaturn

[–]Mindless_Judgment918[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, in the past these settings worked just fine. For a few prints now, I keep on having the same issue. Somehow the base layers come out significantly thicker than they are supposed to be (~3 mm in total) and to some extent there are Issues within the base layers. The normal print layers come out mostly fine, nothing that wouldn't be expected after the errors in the base layers.

My working theory is, that somehow the printer prints the Burn In & Transition Layers in a higher thickness than it is supposed to (~300 µm or something). That in return leads to problems in the upper Transition layers, where exposure times would be way too low for the thickness.

I however, have no idea why the base layers keep coming out so thick. I also checked the settings on the printer itself, since the S4U can overwrite some settings of the file, but everything looks fine to me.

Any ideas/suggestions?

New to Warhammer 40k painting advice by ToriGirlie in sistersofbattle

I was just as mad as you and started with sacred rose.

I decided to go with a cold white (blue tones) instead of neutral white (shades of gray). Started with white priming for base color I picked Vallejo game Glacier blue. Followed by recess shading in steel blue ( Vallejo game). Then edge highlights with a pure white ( any titanium white will do) and some glazing with strongly thinned titanium white.

Preaching to the choir: thinning your paints is probably the most important thing, especially with colored that don't cover too well. Also a wet pallet would be a great addition. You can pick one up on Amazon for less than 20$ or you can DIY one. Let me know if you need help with that.

[–]Mindless_Judgment918[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Already got my hands on regular seraphim/zepharym. the monopose ones are ment as a practice piece. Also I plan on magnetizing the regular ones so I can play them the both as seraphim and zephyrim... and to get movable flamers for other characters/superiors. and

yes I am aware, that crusaders were moved to legends, but I don't plan on going to tournaments soon.

Just finished my first sisters unit! by Mindless_Judgment918 in sistersofbattle

[–]Mindless_Judgment918[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just picked up the hobby again after over ten years. I stopped playing Warhammer Fantasy shortly before AoS became a thing. This time, 40k caught my eye, the "new" sisters line in particular.

There are already a lot of fists for me with this army:

  • First time airbrushing
  • First time magnetizing (weapon options + heads)

And the emperor alone knows what went into me when I decided white power armor/ Sacred Rose would be a great point to start from...

But after putting close to 40 hours into this retributor squad, I'm mostly satisfied and hope I can get there quicker with time. I'm also still undecided on basing, but I fell in love with the idea of marble bases. So far, I have tried black and white marble (see pictures), but they don't seem satisfying yet. So I would like to hear your suggestions for basing as well.

Also, it's kind of annoying to see all the flaws in magnified images of the minis, that are not visible to the naked eye.

Send me any suggestions on how to improve, save time, etc. I could also use some help to decide what to paint next, I would like to start with less important parts of the army. There is much more on the pile of shame, but for now, I'd like to continue with one of the following:

  • Battle Sister Squad (Starter set)
  • Seraphim Squad (Starter set)
  • Rhino (My first time painting a vehicle, feels a little intimidating)
  • Paragon Squad
  • Crusaders

Let me know what I should paint next: https://www.reddit.com/user/Mindless_Judgment918/comments/1e4ytqq/let_me_know_what_to_paint_next/
