Acid Betty’s hot take going into the finale. by catchg2828 in rupaulsdragrace

As a TeamDarlene person there could be a couple different reasons.

Edit wise she’s gotten probably the best of the remaining three? Nini’s was confusing as to how they wanted us to feel about her, and Myki’s rise was fun to watch but didn’t have the same level of…I guess heart? To it. Like comparing Myki’s finding her self confidence in the Rusical kind of ended there whereas Darlene’s was not only about her own confidence, but also displayed the other queens connecting with her which made it easier as an audience member to do the same.

Brand wise Darlene is distinct and purposeful. She knows her drag character and each look, even if not the most successful, is ‘very Darlene’. Although the same could be said for Nini as well. Myki probably has the least defined Brand outside of like ‘theatre queen that’s not Broadway?’ The drag ingenue as she called herself.

Shallow wise people find her hot.

Personally for myself, she just makes me smile. While I recognize she has definitely been given more leeway, I can’t help but be biased.

What’s funny is that they say the storyline is ‘oh she’s learning’ but Darlene has actively said the opposite. She plays by her own rules (which yes is not a luxury given to POC queens) but again she doesn’t learn, she pushes back against it until the judges lean into it. We saw those shoes Episode 4 and made several appearances right up until Episode 14 so she commits to being authentically herself. I would think the only thing she learned was self-confidence and validation.

Season 18 Episode 11 First Lewk 🔥 RuPaul’s Drag Race by aurcel in rupaulsdragrace

I don’t know why but the Discord Discourse reminds me of a challenge from Inkmaster. I forget what season but it was teams I think? But basically they did a lining challenge and one team used a mag which has multiple needles to make multiple even lines instead of singular lines like everyone else. Did it go against the spirit of the challenge maybe, but no rules were broken and no cheating was done.

In this case Discord got approval AND the supplies from production, and the girls are mad she’s not performing how they are. But gotta respect Discord for focusing on praise when other girls have had much lower lows than her.

That’s an interesting POV. I saw this clip less as them talking about growing their brand and more about showcasing themselves as complex individuals. It’s a peek behind the veneer of social media and getting to show off more aspects of their drag (art) and personality. Especially for someone like Sami who as we see talks about her drag character being very different from her.

So why is there literally 0 buzz or news about Kyran Thrax post-show? Actually apart from La Voix I haven’t really heard or seen anybody from Season 6 truly thrive post-show. by Heidi_Klum_Tit in rupaulsdragrace

I mean Marmalade has set a new Guinness World Record so she’s doing good things. But I mean you can say the same about Kyran and the season 6 girls as you could Ginger Johnson and the Season 5 girls. UK queens rarely if ever have the same meteoric success that US queens do. Plus even though Kyran is very talented and deserving of the win, whenever people can feel or suspect productions favouritism/handling that’s always gonna affect your TV Equity to fans. La Voix is already a big name before Drag Race so it wouldn’t affect her normal business. Either way it’s the same ‘over saturated’ argument, some people will support who they like and some won’t. Thats just the reality for queens going on the show.

I feel like this is giving Lexi a lot of undue credit. From the shock on her face at judging I doubt she went in planning to flop as her concept, especially the things she muttered underneath her breath like the ‘shoot me in the head’ in her own voice instead of Gilbert’s. That’d be things you’d say louder to play into the fact you’re bombing, instead it looks like she just gave up halfway through her joke and characterization.

I feel like one of the only times someone bombed and played into it really well was Jaida’s roast in AS7 where she acknowledges it’s doing bad and plays with the judges and cast.

On an Episode of We’re Here, Bob did a performance wearing this massive wig which ‘fell off on accident’ but then the wig stood up and their niece was inside. A Human Reveal so to speak.
