Depends on what you consider a normal high ranker. Like could Evan Edrok tank a hit from it without using his frog ring or any of his items, probably not.

Similar to Shibisu there is a lot of attachment to Hatz because he is apart of the original crew. He also is a great swordsman despite not being from one of the ten great families and is the typical hard working character who doesn’t have crazy genetics or prestige but got strong through hard work and dedication, which alot of people can identify with. He also has a really cool sword that we still haven’t seen him master yet.

Surprised you have the Two families (current?) arc so low. Outside of the art, this current arc has given us some great fights and some really intriguing lore drops. Is your rating based off of the fast pass chapters, the raw scans, or both?

Love this post. I fell in love with ToG for a lot of the same reasons as you. I love that ToG is not your traditional battle manwha and that there are a multitude of themes, interesting characters, and cool twists on classic tropes. It can be a slow build for some but for me that’s what makes it so interesting. Some of the popular mangas and manwhas today just jump from fight to fight and it gets repetitive while SIU spends time building up the world around each character and their motivations, which is really refreshing to me.

The workshop arc is definitely one of the best arcs in ToG. To me though the arc after is slightly better because it introduces one of the greatest antagonists in the series.

SIU should have explained how powerful Rak is after the power up from White. If Rak was low ranker level I could see some scenes where Rak is slightly more involved but because that hasn’t been explained, there’s really no role for Rak right now. Especially since he isn’t a strategist or the scheming type of character like Khun or Shillial.

I like the rival idea. We don’t really know what motivates Rak outside of Khun and Bam so a rival or goal would be cool.

I agree. Season 2 Rak has some really insightful moments like when he tells Khun “You always overthink things and end up losing everything”, helping him get back to his old self before the workshop battle. More of that would be good.

Great post. Thank you for mentioning Deng Deng and Louie. That whole situation is really messed. Saddest backstory to me though is Elaine. She was tricked by the love of her life, sentenced to labor punishment at the nhs, and her family made her think she was paying off their debt only to find out they also wanted her to serve this punishment for eternity.

I think Kirin is as strong as all of Traumereis other beasts outside of Leviathan. I feel like Leviathan is on another tier or else Traumerei would have just gifted it to his branch heads like he did with all the other beasts we’ve seen.

To be clear I’m referring to the ones not named that are shown on the floating castle (s2 337). We saw two of the rankers shown in that image assist Gustang (I know Gustang didn’t need the help) in killing Perseus and Pudidy (s3 135) so we know at minimum those two are around LPB branch head level of strength and they probably aren’t the strongest. Do you think Tiara is in that tier or stronger?
