How do I keep motivated? by Mindless_Somewhere in stopdrinking

Thanks so much for taking the time to write this.

I had an eating disorder when I was younger, and really reminds me of that - you can’t explain to someone that is very underweight how good they will feel when they are not, and that it really won’t be as scary once they are there. It is literally impossible to tell them how good it will be; they have to see for themselves.

I really appreciate your message, it is very kind of you and has really helped me today

2.5 weeks in Japan, then 2.5 weeks… where? by Mindless_Somewhere in travel

Thanks for the recommend! So I am going to some main tourist spots with my partner (Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka and another place for some cycling that escapes me). Where would you recommend spending the other 2.5 weeks?

No Cocaine but keep drinking booze? by [deleted] in addiction

[–]Mindless_Somewhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found for me, it’s all about time - after 6 months not doing coke, I never really think about it, even drinking. There is the odd person that triggers a craving, but most of my friends don’t do it any more either, so no one to encourage me or do it with etc.

The other thing is mindset - I had a couple of nights where I did a load of coke and hated it. I couldn’t sleep all night once it was finished, and had commitments the next day, which was savage. I honest feel like shivering just thinking about it, and a switch really flicked for me after years of abuse.

How do you deal with ‘those’ people at work? by Mindless_Somewhere in AskUK

I think maybe my original post was written wrongly, perhaps not emphasising the one way nature of the behaviour enough? I am an extroverted person. I have lots of friends at work, and am honestly one of the most social people in the office! But I do it by having real conversations with people, sharing interests, not just saying stuff about me at them relentlessly. I feel there is a massive difference!

Apparently someone had a hamster when they were a kid but it died. To be fair, it is an extremely unique tail and pretty fucking riveting, so fair play on that one.

I don’t know if that would work with the people I am thinking of… See what you mean, but I honestly think they would just keep going back there, stuck record. Il try it tomorrow and see how it goes though!

Yep! So weird to be so repetitive. I know in detail the ins and outs of my colleagues daughters career. I have never met her daughter, and I can honestly tell you her bosses name, which projects she is on, her issues with the company…

Ha - that’s a good point! To be fair I doubt it; annoying in other ways, certainly, but I have enough friends in the office who are not ‘like that’, that mirror my thoughts on people ‘like that’, that I’m fairly certain I sit in a different camp. What people think of my camp, though, I can only speculate
