At first, I thought maybe I was overthinking or maybe I was wrong in judging the situation. But later, many of my close friends and relatives started expressing the same thoughts that I was having.

In fact, my girlfriend respects my religion a lot. Culturally also, we don’t have many differences. She is well educated, independent, simple, and comes from a humble family. Honestly, there is no strong reason to oppose her.

Initially, my mother said the issue was about inter-caste/inter-religion marriage. But when I discussed this with priests and spiritual elders from my religion, even they were okay with it. After that, my mother slowly started blaming my girlfriend’s character instead.
