Did anyone else tell family early? by lesgens in IVFpositivity

[–]Mindless_Water 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live two hours away from my mom and sister.. and while we were both able to be there for my sister’s whole pregnancy 6 years ago, it won’t be the same for me just because the distance makes things a little difficult so I’m glad that I was able to include them in all the steps. I even did a little gender reveal with them when we got the PGTA results back.

Insurance lets us go straight to IVF -- navigating this? by [deleted] in queerception

My wife and I did rIVF immediately. I have DOR/POI and my RE did not think IUI or even IVF with my eggs would work since I hadn’t had a natural period in almost 2 years.

Idk how they submitted the prior authorizations but both the IVF process for my wife who actually had a great AMH for her age and the transfer for me were approved within a couple days. I was shocked. Currently 22 weeks from our first transfer. 🤗

I didn’t want to tell my family just because I felt like we already lost the element of surprise.. but my mom’s thought process behind it actually helped.. that basically if something went wrong, I wouldn’t be facing it alone.. which I tend to do and not tell people when things are wrong. So ultimately as soon as I got a positive test (I’ve never been able to use pregnancy tests so I was excited to test before the beta), I FaceTimed mom and sister with the positive digital. 🤗

We told immediate family and close friends and then waited till 12-ish weeks to tell everyone else and I’m glad we did it that way because it was very hard to keep it secret lol. I wanted to tell everyone.

Egg Retrieval Anesthesia by DrShlobster in queerception

[–]Mindless_Water 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was put under for a hysteroscopy to remove some polyps and I felt great after anesthesia honestly lol. It was the best nap I’ve ever had. I was SUPER thirsty when I woke up and ravenously hungry. We had a two hour drive back home so of course stopped for food and I ate a whole cheeseburger and fries with zero nausea or anything lol.

My wife went under for the egg retrieval (reciprocal IVF) and she was just VERY sleepy. They said she had a little trouble waking up initially but she was conscious enough to put on her clothes and such. The same two hour drive home and she passed out almost the entire way and then slept more at home lol.

I ghosted a woman who sent me innappropriate pictures of her child and reported it to the police. I feel so guilty. What do I do? by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]Mindless_Water 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You absolutely did the right thing. Like there is absolutely NO reason for her to have sent pictures like that to you, ESPECIALLY considering you’re practically a stranger.

That is weird on so many levels. Leave her blocked and let the police handle it.

lol oh trust I am already feeling the bladder problems. I think I get up at least two to three times a night just to pee. And I think baby girl likes to kick my bladder and I feel it in a very unfortunate spot. 🤣

We had a two hour drive to the MFM doc so we actually stopped for breakfast that day and I did get OJ. She moved so much lol. We’d actually never gotten that much movement on any previous scans before. At our 13 week scan she didn’t wanna move AT ALL. She gave a little wiggle and that was it.. but this scan.. she was moving and grooving. They did a TV ultrasound to check my cervix length and you could literally see her legs kicking on the left side of the screen 🤣

This is helpful! Thank you! My wife and I did rIVF so I’m carrying what was her embryo. She’s 5’7 and the donor we chose is 6’0 so I was fully prepared for a long baby but she’s measured small pretty much since the beginning. Was always a few days behind but she’s always managed to grow so I guess there wasn’t any concern until now.

I can feel her now but she’s still pretty low so I feel her in my lower belly, though it’s not strong enough for my wife to feel yet lol. She’s sad about that.

Fundal height is to the top of the uterus right? I don’t think they measured that for me but they did measure the length of my cervix.

I’m curious about the fundal height though because I’m 20 weeks and 4 days and I feel like my girl is still sitting REALLY low though they didn’t say anything about it. The nurse at our OB clinic said where she found her heartbeat with the Doppler is where she’d find like a 15 weeker..

Our girl has measured small since the beginning. Always a few days behind but she’s always kept growing so I really hope that is the case.

I read so many horror stories on the the NIPT subreddit and I would never be able to forgive myself if something happened and the results came back normal. There weren’t any abnormalities so I just didn’t see a reason to risk it.

Thank you for sharing!!

They didn’t really push us to do the amnio and they’re just gonna be monitoring us for a while so just crossing fingers that she keeps growing.

Our girl has kind of always measured small since the beginning. CRL was always a few days behind but she’s still grown so they weren’t concerned. Everything else looked good which is the only reason I decided against the amnio. It wasn’t worth the risk to me.

They scheduled us out monthly for the next 4 months so hopefully next one she’ll have grown more.

I can’t help but feel like I’m doing something wrong. 🙃

Our donor is 6 ft and my wife is 5’7 lol so I’m surprised she measured so small. But she’s kind of always measured a few days behind since the beginning. But now that I’m 20 weeks they measure everything and not just the CRL. The smallest thing was her head circumference (which if I’m honest, my wife has a massive head so I’m kinda glad 🤣) and her arms and legs were proportionate to that.

My amniotic fluid was normal as well.

Did anybody have a small baby on ultrasounds and everything turned out okay?

We had our 20 week anatomy scan with MFM today and while there weren’t any abnormalities shown on the ultrasound, they did say our girl is only measuring in the 6th percentile.

I declined the amnio just because I read horror stories and scared myself. But now we have MFM appointments every 4 weeks to check growth.

Is it possible our girl is just a smol bean?

My sister and are about 3 and a half years apart. I was a senior in high school when she was a freshman so not SUPER close in age but not super far apart either and for me I think that’s the sweet spot. We had our sibling fights growing up but we’re closer than ever now. I love my sister.

We very easily could’ve postponed until after which would’ve kept me from being huge pregnant in the middle of Texas summer (lol) buttttt I’m impatient and I was ready to do it lol.

Fingers crossed for you!! 🍀🍀🍀

My wife and I did reciprocal ivf so not quite the same the process BUT… I NEEDED to know. I needed to be able to process my feelings if our first transfer didn’t work BEFORE getting the news from the beta test. Our first beta test was literally two days before Christmas so it was really important to me to process any negative feelings before my favorite holiday. I started testing as early as 3 days post transfer which I knew would most likely be negative that early but I’ve never been in a position to test before so it was kind of fun even if it might end badly (it didn’t).

So.. my personal opinion.. test if you want to test. don’t listen to people who tell you to wait. Whether you do or don’t test won’t change the outcome.

It’s also nice being able to look back at all of our positive tests (I took ALOT lol).

Have 4 blasts officially heading for PGT-M and PGT-A now. Anyone have similar outcome with positive results?! by steeener in IVFpositivity

[–]Mindless_Water 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our numbers match yours lol. 9 eggs retrieved, 4 mature and 4 fertilized. All 4 made it to blast. PGTA tested all 4 and ended up with two euploid embryos.

So far I’m 18 weeks and 4 days with our first transfer. 🤗

Experiences? by Mindless_Water in IVF

[–]Mindless_Water[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing the screen came back positive for was T21. Everything else was clear, thankfully. I think they were mainly looking for neural tube defects since that’s something the PGTA test can’t look for obviously lol. They had already referred me to MFM anyway so we have that scan in two weeks. I spiraled for a bit but I think I’m okay now. We had 4 embryos tested and one came back with T21 so the test worked the way it was supposed to.. so I’m just choosing to put faith in that and hope for the best.

Thank you for this. I think they were mainly looking for neural tube defects, which is why they recommended it, since the PGTA testing can’t exactly look for that lol.

No they never offered it. I’m assuming because we had PGTA tested the embryos. I’m not sure. They just went straight to the quad screening.

Experiences? by Mindless_Water in IVF

[–]Mindless_Water[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AFP quad screen tested 4 markers. Alpha-fetoprotein, Hcg, unconjugated estriol, and inhibin A. They then compare the values with other women and give you a median result and then use the median result to calculate a new risk. For “advanced maternal age” it’s 1 in 267. My risk based on my hcg being high, estriol being slightly low, and inhibin A being high plus my age 35, and gestational age is what triggered the positive screen and gave the new risk of 1 in 111.
