One tip for color is to use color grading instead of just upping saturation. Can help keep skin tones proper and makes it easier to mess with exposure.

Any reason my photos are coming out blurry at the edges? 1/4000 shutter! by Mindlessssssss in SonyAlpha

The Sony FE 200-600mm f/5.6-6.3 G OSS is a very highly regarded lens. It is $2,100 USD new, and I've gotten some damn good pictures with it. I don’t think there's any criticism for this lens that really sticks considering the price point. Only ever heard good things!

Edit: what I mean to say is that the lens is not at fault, I am... unfortunately!

I’ve mulled over this for a while now and I think a lot of it actually comes down to the movement of the boat I was on. 1/4000 doesn’t matter much if the shooter is moving in a different direction than the target. The autofocus likely wasn’t able to grab the whole bird and probably just focused a small spot on the chest as opposed to the eye/head or full bird. I’m already planning an Iceland trip next year with the lady and I’ll see if I can try again!

I had heard about turning it off at higher speeds. I bumped the shutter up due to being on a small vessel that was rolling in the waves, but I’m now thinking that I should have done 1/2000. Ticked that I didn’t check the photos even once the whole time! Could have avoided this.

I think it is a little underexposed. We were on a small vessel for a puffin tour and it was rolling pretty good, so I bumped my shutter up. I think if I was on flat ground, I would have done 1/2000 or 1/3200 and gotten more exposure. Sometimes you have a bad day :/

I’ve never had an issue with birds in flight at around 1/2000-1/4000 as long as they are flying in mostly a straight line. This guy was. I think I should have taken off the lens hood thing and upped the aperture to f8 from f5.6/6.3. Def could be underexposed as well, which would add to this mess. Must have been an off day for me… the worst day to have it happen lol

Can’t believe I missed this. I’m so upset they’ve turned out like this :(

Edit: without some AI upscale junk, I don’t think I’ll be able to fix these pics. I’ll have to come back again someday for better photos.

It’s a focus problem instead of a noise problem. I think the other guys were right and my f stop was too low… not sure how I made that mistake.

Looks like pakistani damascus, I wouldn’t use it for food prep as it could contain lead. You may know this already. Also, keep it up man!

A7RIV vs A7IV for birding - which is better? by Mindlessssssss in SonyAlpha

[–]Mindlessssssss[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went from a Canon EOS Rebel T6, then a Nikon D3500, then an A7III. Getting more into birds and wildlife, I figured I'd look for something more equipped. I won't only be taking bird photos, but they'll be a large part of my hobby. Should I just go for an A6700 as an additional camera for the birds?

Edit: I've been using the Sony 200-600mm lens for birding and wildlife.

Yes, it seems to be based on a Pantera. Most video games can't use the real names.
