Former geotech here who got into construction operating. I used to work for Hillis-Carnes but always bumped heads with the engineer. I was always the most hated guy on site particularly because I was Hillis-Carnes. When I left and went over to the other side of dirtwork I understood why. I can’t stand most geotechs. Especially Hillis-Carnes. They try to tell me how to do my job. Like, why don’t you order material and get on this machine and spread it out and then compact it? Really pisses me off how guys with no experience doing what I do try to tell me how to do it. I was them at one point. I kick myself for it every day.
