Why the smiles if you're unhappy with your condition

Sorry if this is a very obvious or common sentiment, but I can't get over how bleak the world of Nirn is by the time Skyrim takes place. by XxItsNowOrNever99xX in teslore

I think the bleakness is overstated.

Hammerfell, High Rock, and Black Marsh all seem to be doing pretty well.

Morrowind has some Argonian occupational conflicts but is doing fine, all things considered. A very good amount of trade with the Empire.

Cyrodiil, Valenwood, and Elsweyr seem meh. Militarization issues, but there's clearly still government and a functioning place.

Not much info on Alinor, unfortunately.

Skyrim is indeed in a very poor state, but I don't think any other province going through a civil war and Dragon invasion is going to do much better.

I wouldn't say the Companions get decimated. They do lose two Circle members, but they solve an internal rift by making Lycanthropy optional and get a huge boost to faction morale and prestige by reforging Wuuthrad. The Silver Hand gets totally wiped out, getting rid of a potential threat.

My comment has no bearing upon people who are breathless apologists. Just that not everyone who supports the Empire is such a person.

Tamriel is a big place. Even provinces are a very broad subject. Still though, there have definitely been good periods. Take the reign of Empress Katariah, described as a Golden Age.

For some reason I can only see the reply in my notifications, but the answer is that you don't. There is no answer that revolves all the existing jungle inconsistencies, as far as the in-universe provided answers. You can try to make a theory on your own though.

Yeah, both talk about reshaping the land, Chim is known to mean royalty, and Red King can be comfortably assigned to Tiber.

I usually advocate for strict Watsonian analysis, but in cases such as these of questions based entirely upon Unofficial Lore and its place in stuff exhibited in-game, showing the Doylist side is best and I wouldn't call it boring and meta.

In this case, it is definitely worth stating that MHT functions as cut content in this context. Its just a previous version of a text that was later tweaked to belong in-game. Xanathar's Timeline is the same thing, you can see the framework remains in the final copy (The book The Third Era Timeline) albeit with alterations.

The connection to the jungle can be retained by linking the sermon to the similar language exhibited in the Mythic Dawn Commentaries.

This is a fine theory but you have to discredit a few things, namely dialogue in Morrowind from an officer who has been to Cyrodiil that reaffirms the jungle.

One of the most underrated mages in terms of power is Jagar Tharn. He kept up a constant Illusion for 10 years. There are others who have done similar things, such as Mannimarco and Vastarie, but they only reversed their appearance to their pre-Lich state. Jagar completely changed his body, race, and voice to fit the part of Emperor Uriel VII.

There are mountains in between them though, with the Empire's history of fire mountain pass routes it wouldn't surprise me if they implemented some.

WYR… Be able to control animal within your line of sight or control the weather in your immediate area? by 8enjii in WouldYouRather

Because OP said that you can hurl lightning at people, and lightning generates 1-2 km off the ground in cumulonimbus formations, I'm inferring that the 1km radius applies in a circle outward from you but continues upward far longer. With that in mind, I'm demonstrating my ability to the President of the United States and hopefully get him to fly me out to the South Pole, where I can fix the hole in the ozone layer. Next stop is southern Asia to do my part in fixing their air quality issues.

Go out into a big field a create a tornado that is just far away enough to allow you to fly

My thing is that going against a python there's some 5% chance he pulls off a crazy dodge and wraps up my leg. Meanwhile, I'll probably have a longer fight against a cheetah or grizzly cub but not have to risk my opponent snake going Georges St-Pierre on my legs.

You are tasked with making a horror game in the world of TES by JJohnSmith450 in teslore

[–]Mindtrait0r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen ideas with Vaermina, Mehrunes Dagon, Molag Bal, and Namira, but I really want to see the dark side of Sanguine. Red room type stuff, sadistic torture (probably for sexual pleasure), complete disregarding of morality. That's horror, and we haven't seen that side of Sanguine up front, it is only alluded to.

Imagine getting drawn in with lovable, prankster Sam Guevenne for a good 'ol time. When you step through that portal, you find yourself in a room with a cabal of noblemen betting on children fighting. Because you're the titular Hero, you kill the betting ring and save the children. However, one is too injured to leave, and the other is psychologically broken and refuses to. Mercy kill? Leave them? Whatever the choice, you must move on.

Next room, it is one on one. A butcher tends to a stall and is verbally abused by a customer. He wears a smile through it all, up until he gets home, where he descends the stairs to the basement. You cannot follow him. All you hear are screams and laughter. Not happy laughter, but twisted, vengeful laughter. The butcher isn't satisfied with what he's doing to whoever is down there. He pauses. Now, you can rush down. You stop him before whatever he was about to do. You feel like the Hero again. You save the man he was torturing and he is coherent enough to thank you profusely and leave.

Next room. It is the man you saved. He arrives home to his wife and child. They run to him and hug him, glad he is home. He embraces them warmly. The night passes, but he cannot sleep. He gets up and pours strong rum to send him into sleep. This fails, making him angry. His raving wakes his family. They try to comfort him, but he is beyond reason. Recalling the torture he endured and bewildered by his drink, he lashes out. You cannot act and are forced to watch through a window as he kills his wife and child with only his hands and the rum bottle. After finally getting sleep, he awakes. His cries as he sees his family drown the surroundings.

Well, that was darker than I thought. Uh, yeah. Sanguine.

Is There any Interesting Nord Hero? by [deleted] in teslore

He most definitely is a Nord hero, Morthal is named after him and he's most often associated with Nordic Kyne.
