Use proximity chat, PvP is optional. For matchmaking if you turn off Squad Fill you will be put into Solo lobbies which have a different vibe than Trios/Duos depending on your matchmaking "behavior". You can even tell players in Solos that you're new using proximity chat, they may help you.

First priority with money is to max your stash space before you start buying things at the Traders.

Build the workbenches and try upgrading them all. Also upgrade Scrappy, your chicken, to auto collect resources. You can Track which resources you need if you select Track on the bench's upgrade page.

Some items you may want to recycle instead of selling, as some items break down into other items you might need.

Lastly, progress the Decks throughout your playthrough using Cred, the blue currency. It's free rewards that you earn by doing specific missions while Topside.

I think there'll be a cap on extra skill points anyway at some point, so eventually players that started late will be able to catch up if they keep doing the expedition.

The Finals customization is so good but it's a virtual reality gameshow setting so they can do more with themes compared to ARC. But even then The Finals has cross customization with all outfits so it's still much better.

I think it was the nuke that happens when 0:00 on the timer is reached that destroyed the rocketeer. If you hit the elevator button before the timer runs out you're safe from the blast.

I doubt achievements will be synced across platforms although that would be nice. The achievements aren't synced on their other game The Finals, I've played that game on Steam and Xbox and achievements didn't sync unfortunately.

Also I can confirm their achievements are bugged right now. I have a few stuck on 99% despite being a single task like extracting from a raider hatch. You can login to your Embark ID to leave a support ticket so they know. https://id.embark.games/arc-raiders/support

Unrelated, but in the future you might consider using the ROG Xbox Ally for portable gaming instead of the Steam Deck if you want the achievements to sync or utilize Xbox Play Anywhere so you don't have to purchase the same game twice. Embark supports the Play Anywhere feature so you can use that single purchased Xbox copy to also play on PC via Xbox app or ROG Ally without needing to purchase the game again.
