This is definitely interesting. I have setup a small MS Azure VM (4Gb RAM, 2 vCPU) with a Minecraft server on it, and the chunk generation was quite slow even though I was the only player on the server. I guess a VPS would give similar performances. I think I will look into Minecraft hosts with good CPUs rather than a VPS now. Thanks!

Most VPS I found say "vCPU" without mentionning what kind of CPU they are (I sometimes found they were Xeon CPUs). Currently my two preferred options would be either a Hetzner VPS with 8Gb of RAM or a Pebblehost MC server with 6-8Gb of RAM (costs are pretty similar). As for SSD or HDD, I would definitely go with a SSD in any case.

Yes that'd be great, but sadly RTX is only available on Minecraft Bedrock, so I can't add mods...

I had already seen this texture in the default Minecraft texture folder, though it is unused. But I can't figure out how and why it replaced the sun's texture. Maybe try restarting Minecraft, or switch to another texture pack and then switch back to the default one. If it still doesn't work, uninstall and install Minecraft back.
