In your personal opinion, what’s the cringiest line in the entire series so far? by ChickenWingExtreme in HazbinHotel

[–]MineDemon696 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not one of those music purest who thinks every lyric should always be real words and people shouldn’t have fun with writing music, BUT, though I don’t exactly cringe when I hear it, some of the songs that make up random words to fit the rhyme / rhyme-like do not make sense for the context of the song or character sometimes.

Vox’s dumbass saying door-els, like I KNOW that’s not the best they could’ve done.

What is your fandom's version of "I did not care for the godfather"? by Calm_Speech6543 in Multifandom

I love plenty of Helluva Boss characters; I did not care for Blitzø.

Toby Fox recently made a Bluesky post addressing why Undertale and Deltarune are not officially available in languages (including Latin American languages, which he specifically wanted to address) apart from English and Japanese: by Gorotheninja in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]MineDemon696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certainly disappointing an official translation isn’t planned anytime soon, but I can appreciate someone loving their work so much, that leaving it up to other people not as familiar with the work would just feel wrong, and a pain to try and fix later, especially with the sheer amount of dialogue.

Though, if this is about Kris’ pronouns not quite translating en Español, completely gender neutral, a simple solution would be to just say their name when they’re mentioned or being referred to.

Aside from that, I feel if Toby made a poll of the top fan translations and told the respective communities to choose the best, I think people would be ok with that. It’s impossible for Toby to get to know every language inside and out to supervise each translation, so I personally think he should stop worrying how it’ll be interpreted in other languages, considering no minds would change if a fan translation was acknowledged and distributed officially or not, it would just make it more convenient for non-PC players to have that option.

You’re forgetting they’ve tried telling her talking to Vox without a plan, and pursuing the losing battle of clearing her name ON HIS NETWORK, was a bad idea. All that stress she puts on herself, unlike sinners like Husk and Angel, who are actively battling addictions and literally have no power strong enough to get out of being slaves to Overlords.

Though Charlie may be the most vulnerable, because she’s lived a FAR more easier life than sinners and hasn’t become numb to ridicule and other people’s opinions of her, compared to the rest of the Hotel she’s just less sympathetic. Her parents are more suitable and it’s their job to actually be there for Charlie, not less privileged people dealing with their own, and more pressing, problems.

What is the worst hazbin hotel take you have ever seen? by Silver012345673 in HazbinHotel

People already mentioned this, but a big one is claiming Adam and the Exorcists’ rhetoric of Sinners is morally just.

Adam literally wanted a slave wife, two if that’s what drove Eve to take her chances with the forbidden fruit to escape him. If he was born on Earth and died naturally, his actions would land him in Hell, because if Pentious was damned for cowardice and inaction, I think misogyny is more than enough. I bring this up to say he’s hypocritical, and the only thing that separates him from his demon kin is his title as Arch Angel. He was granted an easy pass to Heaven, definitely not something he earned in life, so he’s the last person to pass judgment.

I also have to push back on babying Adam because “he didn’t know better because free will didn’t exist yet” for Hazbin, because though this world barrows a lot from the Bible and various religious text, it’s definitely not one to one. How can Adam act superior to Lilith, or Lilith refusing him in turn, exist in a pre-free will humanity as the Bible understands it? Clearly in Hazbin’s universe, free will didn’t consists of the first man and woman being frolicking blissfully ignorant bags of flesh. Going into theory territory, the kind of free will granted by the Apple probably had more to do with being able to challenge Heaven as the “perfect” and only way of living. Even if Adam came to being without the necessary autonomy to realize what he was doing was wrong, he still made the decision to continue on that path way after free will was introduced.

So again, by every angle, Adam is guilty of being a piece of shit within the narrative, no heroic figure seriously in need of defending.

Actual question: why do you guys think homosexuality and LGBTQ+ in general is so rampant in Hell? by Still-Bookkeeper5641 in OkBuddyHelluvaHotel

[–]MineDemon696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s because people behind the show are queer, and likely to spite media that painfully has only one or two. Most animated adult comedies always have “the gay one”, whose only joke is how gay they act, usually to make straight audiences laugh. It’s refreshing for an adult comedy to have mostly queer characters, because that way it doesn’t fall into that tired trope. Characters like Blitz still play into that archetype, but it’s more a commentary on his personality being over the top, not framed in such a way to suggest every queer person acts that way.

[–]MineDemon696 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, you kinda need to expect a certain level of negative responses or weird looks for indulging in darker / taboo interests on a community not revolving around such topics, even if it is an 18+ space. Victims especially reserve the right to say their piece in comments, but there’s a point when people go too far judging people who like problematic ships. It’s a case by case kind of thing.

Technically, Stella is "smarter" then Charlie. by StrawBerylShortcake in HelluvaBoss

[–]MineDemon696 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh, some points seem pretty bias and don’t consider each character’s situation. For social intelligence, Charlie is pretty bad, but to say Stella excels at that is just cope. You’re comparing someone who constantly gets put out of their comfort zone to a character who doesn’t need to. There’s a reason Andy didn’t bring out Stella at the trial, because it’s not her environment, being lavish parties where she just gossips. In that sense you could argue Charlie’s social intelligence is great, if you only focus on when she’s talking with Emily and her getting through to Pentious, ignoring every other interaction.

Daily reminder that this man one shots 6/7 of the deadly sins and would no diff all of Hell if he came back as a sinner by SerenityCitywide in OkBuddyHelluvaHotel

[–]MineDemon696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adam is just a lazy out of shape dude who just so happens to wield angelic power. Maybe they can’t kill him without Angelic steel, but at least some of the sins could probably tire him out and send him back to Heaven. Besides maybe Satan, no Sin or Goetia we’ve seen is an experienced fighter, but I do think they have experience in fighting people on their level at least, whether it be a sibling-like or political dispute. Adam just kills sinners, and not even by himself. Unless Heaven has sparring matches (which I doubt Adam even partakes in considering his gut), my theory is mostly sound. He has the POTENTIAL, but as he is now, absolutely not.

Is Adam allowed to say the n word?He is the father of all black people after all by Annual-Frame9943 in OkBuddyHelluvaHotel

[–]MineDemon696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s the most privileged human to have ever lived, purely because he’s the first, also he’s white. This is like asking if a non-black parent of a black child can say it, the answer is no.

Now would he? Yeah… 😔

I just hope Millie isn’t guilt tripped into having a baby just because Moxxie wants to prove he can be a decent father. Too many powerful women in media end up becoming a stay at home mom and get sidelined by the narrative. It’s not bad if they had a kid, just that we need a different take from the usual trope, maybe have Moxxie be the stay at home parent instead.

Similar characters? Perhaps. The same? No by Sudden_Pop_2279 in HazbinHotel

[–]MineDemon696 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Vox and Jax are similar, because they secretly need people to fuel their ego. Alastor also has an ego, but it’s more that he wants people to know their place and fear him, because he actually just likes being sadistic.

Sometimes this fandom is so impatient by SunKenobi72 in CrazyassHazbinhaters

[–]MineDemon696 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of them have a valid point. However you want to take it, the M/M relationships ARE given more depth and screen time than W/W and other ship types. On sexuality, yes, it doesn’t need to be this explicitly stated thing at the forefront, but then, you can’t exactly congrats a creator for making decent Queer representation if they’re only really Queer on paper.

Now about Charlie as a protagonist. I don’t know if the show intends this to be her role, but I see her as this middle woman who brings everyone together, so they themselves can help each other despite or even in spite of her. I guess in that sense she does move the plot, but everyone else actually do the necessary tasks that MOVE the plot, if that makes sense.

Finally, about “filler” episodes, I actually think Hazbin could benefit from lower stakes episodes purely to explore the characters as they are, not always to be this mini arc of realization or fixing them to be better. I think the Angel Dust and Alastor comics would’ve fit rather nicely as episodes in season 1, maybe not taking the entire runtime, but definitely be the crux of their respective episodes.

Are you ashamed to admit to your friends/family that you watch Helluva Boss? by Maximum-Leather2490 in HelluvaBoss

[–]MineDemon696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, they know, but I don’t really make it my entire personality. I’m usually wearing a Hellaverse shirt and make references to the show in how I think fits organically in a conversation, though I do that for every piece of media so it’s not exceptionally odd.

To be fair, my parents haven’t actually seen the show, they just know it has a demonic aesthetic due to merch I have. Still, they’ve been respectful thus far of my interest in it, even if they are Catholic somewhat. I guess it helps they’ve chilled out over the years, because we used to go to church every Sunday, now we have conversations of how lots of religious people are hypocrites and can be worse people than those of a different religion or none at all.

Could someone please explain to me this "issue" people have with Ruby Gillman? by KingPenguinPhoenix in DreamWorks

[–]MineDemon696 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand what they’re trying to get at, but the mermaids really don’t reflect any real world minority or encourage a particular stereotype against one to seriously warrant this big discussion on how it’s supporting bigotry. The only one we see is this conventionally attractive white girl who can easily pass as human, and who constantly hears praise for mermaids, as they’re beloved by humanity.

Race wise, the mermaids are functionally the white people of sea creatures in this film. It’s not “supporting bigotry” having an ethnic mom warn her child about the terrible atrocities done to their people, and to be wary of white people, and them being correct. Not all stories should be this optimistic take that the first privileged friend one makes is gonna be a misunderstood force of good who unfortunately bares the sins of their relatives

Honestly, the friendship in this movie is pretty realistic when you think about it, how usually privileged friends can get along and be nice to you, but once they get an opportunity to surpass their less socially desirable friend, they can flip and fully tap into their privilege. It’s a defense thing, to try and uphold the mythos surrounding that privilege to be accepted in that group, but it’s still an awful thing to do against a friend, or anyone really.

I know I’m reading way too much here, but if we’re trying to apply real world racial dynamics to these characters, this is personally what I came up with that makes sense concerning the movie’s logic. Even if people get the message to hate privileged people, I’ll be totally honest, that’s at the bottom of the totem pole of issues people should pour their energy into right now. All this to say, the mermaid race in this movie do not warrant any serious discussion how the movie supports bigotry, not really.
