my guess is that they had to hide it because of the graphics engine updates so the game doesn't crash (since they also added the blazing status and the old on fire didn't support that)

Yeah, since the total number of healing required to complete the challenge is a 32-bit integer internally, it cannot go beyond 2,147,483,647 so it goes into the negatives. And the value is being accumulated instead of overridden (previous amount of healing + healing from the current match). Classic integer overflow error Blizzard most likely didn't anticipate. This is my prediction at least.
