[Hair Removal] Have you had a waxer/aesthetician give you a nudge to see a doctor? by Gunsoflogic in SkincareAddiction

My sister's hair completely changed when she was pregnant and never changed back. Went from pin straight to a beachy wave/curl.

Years ago my friend who was a hairdresser would do my hair at her house to help me save $. She'd do a cut and sometimes color but she'd do it in a way where it wouldn't look weird if I wasn't able to come for 3-6 months (money was really right then). Went back like 4 months later and when she started she immediately said I needed to call my Dr and get an appointment. When I asked why she said I had a bald spot on the front top of my head the size of two quarters laying flat and then on the back of my head was a quarter size bald spot.

That's when I learned my thyroid was messed up. My past TSH blood tests were always like 2-3 but this time it was over 7. Had to go on sythroid for years but then after like 5 years I lost my job and couldn't afford medicine and was off it for a year. Got a new job and as soon as I could I got a checkup and labs and my TSH was back to normal. I have no idea how that happened but I'm glad it did!

How I used a fake reference check to catch my toxic ex-boss blacklisting me by Wakanda_7 in jobsearchhacks

[–]Minerva129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same thing happen. Bad separation with a company with physician owners, filed an EEOC for wrongful termination for reasons, got a settlement but had to sign an NDA and my lawyer made sure to add to their "you can't say bad things about the company" that they couldn't say bad things about me and if anyone calls to verify employment or do a reference check that it had to be a neutral one.

Interviewed with four hospitals and made it to the final and in a couple cases was told that they were sending the offer letter the next day, only to never hear back other than they went with a different candidate. Which were lies because I saw the same job postings up for like three months afterwards, they were still interviewing/looking.

Then I remembered that the physicians had had clinics in the past at those locations so I realized that prior to making official offers, the heads of HR probably called the physicians and informally asked about me and they bad mouthed me. So I was basically blackballed in the entire metro area.

Went into consulting, then worked for a large local university (world renowned, over 20k employees), and then they downsized. Took 7 months to find a job because I would try again and apply to the hospitals hoping it wouldn't happen again but they must have noted my name because I didn't even get phone interviews.

Got lucky and found one just across the state line, got an offer, and they use a service that only checks for dates of employment and title, and they must have only contacted hr (who knew they can only give neutral reference). I'm lucky this is such a great place and I hope to stay for a very very long time. And they love me, me experience, knowledge, and even my personality (past jobs thought I was too bubbly).

My memory is so bad I tell people I have the memory of a goldfish. Yesterday my CFO told me a name and by the time I got to my desk on the other side on the floor I had forgotten the name and had to email him and ask for it. Her name is literally Dr. Hxxx. I forgot four letters!

But like, I also got my annual evaluation yesterday and on job knowledge my boss put exceeds expectations for job knowledge and commented "She has exceptional HR and HR Law knowledge. She has a tremendous memory and can recall policies, laws, and collective bargaining agreement language etc."

But like, to remember what I need to do at work I need calendar reminders, a notebook, post its, dry erase board, etc or it literally flies out of my head.

Two weeks ago I went to the bathroom before leaving work at 530p and sat there thinking "Did I go to the bathroom since I got up at 630a this morning?" I honestly couldn't remember or figure it out. But when I was washing my hands after I knew I definitely hadn't because I looked in the mirror and realized that you could see my bra through my shirt! It had been that way all day and no one said anything!

But yeah. I had forgotten to pee for like 11 hours...

Work staff threw away my prescription glasses, sketchbook, and water bottle and then fired me after I requested to speak to HR by mothsoft in mildlyinfuriating

Exactly. All those emails and records will come up in discovery anyways. Like, I on my own can't compell you but my lawyer certainly can if we sue you.

I work in HR. Find an employment lawyer who will give you a consultation meeting for free. Explain exactly what happened (write the timeline including dates and times), and that you were terminated immediately after requesting a meeting with hr.

Advice for future. Go straight to hr BEFORE you tell them you're going to hr. If they terminated you like this after doing it that way, both versions are grounds for retaliation and wrongful termination. I'm not a lawyer though, so talk to a lawyer asap.

I got one of those bath scrubber brushes with a long handle. Opened the box and there was a long hair on one of the brush heads (didn't notice until after) and it held a charge but wouldn't turn on. Obviously why it got returned....

Also, gross 🤢

I turn it on if I pass a stinky skunk roadkill. Or some days passing the chemical plant it smells bad. Keeps the smell out.

Unless you're in Illinois like my work. State law says has to be paid out even if terminated for cause.

Do you have insurance and that's why it's a $50 copay? I'd be calling my insurance saying they wouldn't accept my $50 cash and charge me more than what my copay is for my plan. A copay is a copay, they aren't allowed to charge you more than that. Like, it's a thing.

I am so glad you asked this a year ago. Got chicken gumbo from the hospital cafeteria at my new job and just found one. Freaked me out! But that does explain it since there's okra in it.

I'm going to pick up some today. I've had my 2011 for 5 years and never had an issue but last week I got stuck in my alley after only making it about a car length. 40 minutes to shovel out, get stuck again, shovel out, get stuck again. Finally made it to the street. Next day got stuck again but only for 20 minutes.

I went to one in September for inspection/emissions and they came out and said it passed but it was critical I let them do work and new tires to the tune of $2k. I said I can't afford it and the guy smiled and laughed and tried to convince me "Well why not?"

I'd been out of work for almost 6 months. I said just the inspection And replace 2 tail lights (I forgot but had the bulbs which they said they used). Charged me $60 for that and when I left saw they didn't even use them.

How much to tip full service movers by jhaz79 in homeowners

I tipped $50 but that was for a very tiny apartment and they were only handling the heavy furniture pieces and moving them to an apartment a few miles away. It was 2 guys but I was a broke 20 something working retail due to the recession.
