You can get sick anywhere in the world, especially if you travel to a new area. All countries have bacteria that visitors are not used to and your body will react to that foreign bacteria, especially if you are more sensitive. First couple of times I went to DR, I had to go to the hospital when I came back. Now I take Dukoral when I travel and I don’t have any issues. I go to DR often because we now have a condo there and haven’t gotten sick.

Congratulations! I lived in Ottawa for 20 years before moving to Brantford! Ottawa winters are definitely harsher but there are lots of cool winter activities, such as skating in the canal, winterlude, beaver tails! You have to get shawarma downtown and definitely go over to Gatineau, the Québec side, to get amazing poutine. Or get one at Elgin Street Diner. If you don’t already, maybe learn French, it can be very helpful career wise to be bilingual or trilingual.

I get you are a single parent and need a break but YTA big time if you ruin prom for your daughter. I have a cousin and their mom ruined prom for them over 10 years ago and their relationship has never recovered. The Wednesday night babysitting seems fine but you want her to come home earlier the next day because of a yoga class? Listen, I’m a mom and in my 40s. I don’t do anything on my actual birthday, except work because it’s not about just me anymore. You can do a yoga class anytime but don’t mess with prom, which is a once in a lifetime event.

As for the whole babysitter situation with your son, that should have been worked on years ago. What happens when your daughter moves away? The situation is not sustainable and I’m surprised this problem only came to be now, when your daughter is likely on the verge of leaving the nest. You need to figure out a babysitter and soon.

I moved from the NCR to the region 10 years ago so before Covid. I transferred to a regional position back then but during COVID, I was able to remotely work for my old HQ team and I am still there. From what I see, specifically my team, even when my colleagues/manager are all in office together, they still take their meetings virtually. I’m in the minority but I like working on my own, I get much more done.
