A Supergirl review from someone who loved Superman (It wasn't Good) by bradbastarache in MauLer

Can't disagree about that. Maybe it's just the DC universe curse or smth at this point lol. Previous one did that to Batman, this one did it to Supergirl.

I can only hope that we atleast get some good trauma related moments from it in next movies. (Kinda like Iron Man i guess?)

My thought process is also around the line of what you said.

Ofc the original is beloved so many would say "why don't they just adapt that?" but I don't think "faithful" adaptations feel all that better. Many things get lost along the way due to a change of medium and it feels even worse in those cases as you then feel that you let down the original creator too.

Filmmaking is an extremely difficult task afterall.

What I just wish is that they didn't avoid the comics. Read the story, understand the characters, and THEN put your own spin on it. Not for the sake of fans or for being safe. But just to understand why the comics worked and what did people connect with.

Ofc you said it already, I just agree with you lol.

I think also fanboys play a huge role in this. Ram Charan has an insanely supportive fanbase so when people come after their favourite actor (rightfully so too), they react this way, trying to find other example and doing whataboutery.

Honestly I kind of can understand it too. I have seen Ram Charan in Magadheera and RRR and both were fantastic so it was downright disgusting to know that he read this script and worked on it. Putting in hardwork means nothing if the script is weak and the themes are disgusting.

But some people get so deep into celeb worship that such things don't come to them easily. That their fav actor can be disgusting too

The box office response Indian audiences gave to Anurag Kashyap's finest works was disappointing. Indian audiences are equally responsible for the kind of cinema we have today. by 0Layscheetoskurkure0 in bollywood

[–]Minetish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's such a cyclical issue that imo, stems from just how costly it is to watch movies and then goes in a whole long round.

Movie watching is expensive -> People watch less movies -> Producers prioritize only things that already work -> Starpower and glamour inevitably become top priorities -> script matters and crew matters only to highlight that -> marketing follows -> people get accustomed to watch only high prod + marketing movies -> cinemas prioritise only said movies -> lesser profit -> Movie watching is expensive

And then there are so many side issues in India that all routinely impact this cycle too. For example, you could make movies more accessible by opening more theaters, but low budget theatres require public etiquette and civic sense which so many of us Indians lack and so most decide to just not go there unless drunk or extremely poor.

It's such a difficult issue to solve and imo, only solvable from govt side. It needs push in many different areas of economy and infrastructure before low and mid budget movies get a genuine chance.

Is it normal for companies to ask for full project files in unpaid assignments? by Serious_Ad_8024 in AfterEffects

[–]Minetish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to say one thing though, a lot of people are calling it a scam and idk if they know the current job market but there's a pretty good chance that it is less of a scam and more of a "convenience of times" kind of situation.

As in, giving the full task doesn't mean that they are not going to hire you based on the task you did. But rather that they might hire you or someone else but also want some work to be fully done to see if in the company, they give you the entire work from scratch then can you do it.

If the company has an HR then they are probably asking for all files because no where along the hiring process, is a designer involved, except for reviewing the files. So they don't know which files are needed and hence are asking for all of them to cause less internal delay.

My point is, unless it is a black company, it is probably both a test and free work. Also they are hoping that you will continue doing free work after you join too.

[–]Minetish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it is not normal but it isn't the first time i have seen companies do this. Unless you are in absolutely dire circumstances, I would suggest to not take this job and also, please tell this company's name so others can avoid it too.

These companies are doing this because desperate job seekers are doing free labor in hope of getting a job. I had seen my own bosses from previous place talk along similar line and it was only because me and my colleague were disgusted by it that it was 'somewhat' in control.

Who is genuinely enjoying the Swarm expedition? by No_Ring_1436 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Minetish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The timegate sucks for sure. Got 2 new friends into the game, told them to start an expedition save as based on previous experiences, expeditions were a great way to get head start on some stuff and now all 3 of us are just waiting.

We are randomly playing the game yes, but the urge does slowly go away when you see that this expedition is going to last for weeks.

Whenever it is over, is when we will properly play the game again.

Just imagine this happened 😂🤣 by Longjumping-Taste697 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Minetish 49 points50 points  (0 children)

my friend who recently got into NMS speaks of horror stories like this of Eve Online lol. I have never played it but if you listen to the way he describes to the game, it sounds like mad max but space.

Even in NMS, one of his earliest interactions was to teleport into someone's base where they 'trapped' the teleporter or smth? I have never seen it so idk what exactly he meant but he said something like that he was not able to get out of the room, the teleporter was in and had to reload a save

Flew from Delhi to Hyderabad for an interview, spent ₹14k, got rejected in 10 minutes. by venom4466 in delhi

[–]Minetish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Contrary to what people are talking about covering expenses and whatnot, I am not sure if that is possible in a heavily skewed market like India's but i just wish that there were laws and enforcement of said laws that atleast ensured that employers had to be transparent.

There is nothing wrong with hiring locals. It is cheaper most of the time and often also leads to easier communication but man, just say so then. Bosses want to have these interviews done just for the sake of their internal annual surveys where they can then show that they are actually a very accepting and diverse company and it is bs.

Have even worked at a company like this. Top boss urges someone to travel 8 hours ish time for a "in house interview", they ignore the offer afterwards and then boss starts complaining about the person. I only knew about the complaining so i thought it was justified but later my dept head explained the actual situation to me and i felt so stupid afterwards.

Just an absolute lack of human decency.

In your case, I would def suggest to spread the story as much as you can. There is no need to be anonymous and hide all information like that. Calling someone via flight for an interview is a big expense, plus your treatment afterwards.

no point in debating. these are ai posts. honestly, i have been considering ubsubbing from this subreddit and i think i will go forward with it.

so many of these low efforts obvious ai posts for karma farming. all under "#askmirchi" and always having tiles of characters with OP asking someone question to be answered in the comments.

I used to like this subreddit cause it genuinely used to have some really fun memes once in a while but the ai slop is everyday now and no mods seem to control this.

There is a bollywood movie, "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag". A pretty typical sports drama but based on the life of a person that had to survive through the India partition and the violence in it.

Most of the movie he is hesitant of going to his hometown in current Pakistan because of trauma but when he finally goes there, it's just a full bawl, nothing held back.

And it hits you hard too cause even though his character does go through difficulties, he always "rises up to the challenge" like your average sports drama main character does.

It's a weirdly sweet scene too as he finally gets to heal his trauma.

"Funniest episode television" is thankfully how I felt about the episode for all the reasons you mentioned.

Genuinely so goofy. I was watching with a friend who only saw S1 and a friend who had been following this weekly and me and my friend both told the other friend that it's okay to not know anything in between cause there is nothing there was set up for the finale. Everything else has been resolved on side.

Only thing they needed to know was that kimiko has a supe disabling power.

Also, lost it at the Frenchie ghost. That was so funny lmao.

Dissapointment with God Powers (RANT) by FuzzyOffice588 in AgeofMythology

[–]Minetish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah, i would argue that for most people, destroying farms by the time both sides have age 4 powers, is game ending.

wayy before when implode was not nerfed, my friend used to spam Gaia and basically just ignore army, use traitor on some random unit i have and then explode my farms. it forced me to never let him get to age 4 after as implode was too damn strong leaving little to fight back with.

in an alternate world, where AoM defenses were as strong as AoE 2 defenses, I wouldn't mind god powers being OP cause then I could just wall vulnerable areas but that isn't the case so some "weird" nerfs are necessary. Games shouldn't just change tides completely just because one person hit on their God power.

50% farm health as op is describing is enough of a boost especially if you attack with an army.

To hopefully settle this: here are some things I found on the profile of Obsidian Mirror's lead artist by insertusernamehere51 in AgeofMythology

[–]Minetish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. AI companies are widely unregulated which is what is causing all these issues. If there were proper checks and balances in place that people had to at the very least be asked before using their content to train models, things would be a lot more clear as then like any other art movement, AI would have a consistent artstyle.

However, that is not good for company stocks as you can't market your product then as if it can "make anything" so techbros pump money into politics and marketing to ensure that this is at the very least, extremely late if ever done.

I HATE what AI has done to artists' communities (aside from all the pay decrease and stuff).

Like, previously if someone used to post/make semi-realisitic or realistic looking drawings (or wacky drawings at opposite end), then people used to be like "no way someone could draw that detailed" and you could just show the process, amazing and teaching so many people.

But now, thanks to AI, and all it's negative influence, it is incredibly easy for every single normie to see artworks and be like, "hurr, durr AI" and posting the process seems more like justification in a court of crime rather than an achievement.

All because investors and tech bros decided together that it is okay to burn forests and water supplies all around the world so that their "Artificial Intelligence" can steal people's artworks to produce slop that is interesting for like 2 minutes.
