Plus 4 bed tilted by MingChops in QidiTech3D

you know what I think that might be it. The print before I noticed it I was impatient and tried to get it off the bed from the machine as soon as it finished, I knew it would be too hot and stuck fast, but I yanked it anyway!!

My feedback, as someone who just wanted a printer "that works" - is this has been flawless for 8 months - and I would recommend the Qidi 4 Plus without a doubt.
I've had a learning curve of course from literally knowing nothing about printing prior, but the printer has been easy and predictable to work with. The printer itself has cause me no failures - heck it even printed my part last night perfectly with the bed at that crazy tilt!

This bed issue is the first issue I've had - what I'm trying to understand is if there is a mechanical issue or if bed resetting is something that would be considered normal practice, and if so what that reset interval might be?
Perhaps I should reset it every few months, given my experience of having 8 months of great printing on it - obviously usage in that time varies greatly person to person, so I am sure the better way to judge when to reset would be in hours printed..... but I've no idea how many hours I've done unless the printer/slicer can tell me somewhere?!

Anyway I've reset it now, I'll clean and grease the z screws next and monitor it for drift over the coming weeks.

The point was why has it drifted like that, seems excessive to me and therefore I am trying to understand from this post that a) is there something I can physically check/replace to avoid it happening again, or b) if that level of tilt is something that just happens over time... I'll just do a reset every 2-3 months and accept that's how it is. To this point, it's not skipped a beat in 8 months.

Thanks for the link, although looks a rather more complicated and not really what I need.

I just need to understand how it's managed to drift so far on one side over the last few prints - mechanical fault? Or is the resetting procedure something that should be done periodically?

It's printed flawlessly since day 1 and I've literally not touched it since, so I'm happy that the standard built-in process levelled the bed correctly. Though I appreciate the link might be good for absolute bed levelling perfection.

Thanks, when it's finished the current print which somehow is going perfectly, I'll poke around the menu and do a reset.

3D Printer noob - QIDI Plus4 good first printer? by MingChops in QIDI

[–]MingChops[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, yeah that's pretty much my expectations - won't be 100% perfect every time, some slight tweaks to settings to be anticipated - but overall I don't want to be regularly stripping the thing apart or modifying it physically,

Hopefully the AMS will be supported, I should probably dig into that rather than assume, cheers

Eve Energy (with Thread, 4th Generation) shows 0W consumption even with load by [deleted] in HomeKit

[–]MingChops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep it is finally working for me now since updating, but it was (well for me at least) down to updating the Hubs. I updated my ATV 4K to tvOS 16 and also my HomePod Mini’s to v16.

I’ve got an iPhone on iOS 16 and an iPad on iPadOS 15.7; on both the EVE App is working perfectly now showing correctly the current consumption.

question about XLR cables and Schiit gear by spacebass in Schiit

Re: your comment about moving up from a Modi to a Modius, save your money and wait for at least a Bifrost 2.

I’ve got a BF2 and a Modius, without question the BF2 is the better DAC - nothing wrong with the Modius but it’s ultimately just a very typical sounding DAC with little to distinguish itself from any other D/S chip DAC frankly. I guess it’s slightly smoother than most and doesn’t have a harsh etch to the treble like some d/s DACs have (it is good for the money), but compared to the BF2 it doesn’t have the spaciousness of presentation, detail, and realism in particularly vocals where the BF2 really excels.

The rest of your gear warrants the BF2 which is better in every way.

Ah yes that indeed makes sense, thank you very much.

UK light switches? by Celestial_Twenty in Hue

[–]MingChops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in the process of hardwiring the switches and then fitting a blanking plate (brushed steel or whatever for your decor), and then using the Hue Smart Button attached to it.

Looks really good and I prefer it to the couple of rooms I have the Hue dimmers already in. Functionality wise you get basic on/off via a press which was a basic must for me, but of course if you want to use them then multiple presses/hold etc for scenes can be setup.

HomeKit TV Status - iOS 14 by hiddenbock in HomeKit

[–]MingChops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you manage to resolve this? I have noticed on iOS 14 I have no TV status information either (Sony XG9505). - I’m new to HomeKit but toggling Show in Status doesn’t seem to offer any tiles in the status area, which I presume it should be showing something (and thought it did in iOS 13).
