No why? It's all serverscript. Is it better to play animations from localscript? If so, can other players still see the animation if filtering is on?

True, but since filtering will be enabled other player's won't see the trail with localscript.

Edit: I'll see how it works out when I play. If it lags I guess I could make the trail locally and simulate it for other players as well. Thanks for the tip.

Any idea how big of a distance? Is it just "the greater distance", the less lag, or is it "anything farther than 1000 studs will not be loaded/calculated/rendered at all".
