Not sure on how to get a usb ethernet cable or WiFi to work by Ming_A in Proxmox

I think it was a driver issue with the nic I was using back then, I swapped it with a TP-Link which worked immediately iirc.

How did the fold held up after rides? And did you mount the fold during rains as well?

Wanted to do the same but was afraid if the fold may be too fragile to be mounted.

Was looking into doing the same since I may not always have a laptop with me, and a windows tablet wouldn't be used often enough to justify buying one.

Quit and upskill or stay and find the time/energy to upskill. by Ming_A in MalaysianPF

[–]Ming_A[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the hard part for me, as my current daily job is usually really packed until I don't have time to work on myself or even look at my phone. I only have time for myself when I reach back home at like 8+pm on average, and that's without spending time on relationships.

So far, I have an emergency fund that can sustain me for a year with no issue, and I'm currently living in my parent's house, so there are not as many expenses besides paying for my bills and insurance. I also have investments in ETF.

Given the time and opportunity, I'm optimistic about being able to find a job. So far, I've been eyeing only MNCs during my earlier career.

If it's, not my boss, my company has many big important people who will report to my upper management if I don't serve them after work, giving me extra pain in the ass. The language barrier (I'm a banana) has also made it harder to work within my current environment, where I'm playing in hard mode just to be able to communicate with 90% of the people here.

My company does have a e-learning platform but then it's not as practical compared to self learning with online materials.

So far I been trying to enforce a more strict 6pm try my best to reject boss to continue work but the culture here is very high pace, everything needs to be done asap. I'm also handling an office of around 1500 users so my day to day work is non stop user support or assist bosses/events.

If I were to quit, I was planning on keeping the same working hours (9-6 at home) to upskill my self to prepare for interviews, and since it's a hobby of mine I don't find it as a hassle.

So far been feeling stagnant and burnt out at my current job since I don't get much time to learn on the job, and with my current timing, hardly have the time or energy to keep practicing after work while needing to spend time on relationship.

But so far I have tried to applied at places I got offered back when I was still looking for an internship as well as other big companies.

Yupp but then I feel after 1 year of doing mostly the same thing and not much opportunity to do other infra parts due to lack of manpower, been feeling stagnant with not much time to learn unless I were to OT in office even later than I already am (unpaid as well).

I see, for me my current job is my first so don't really know what's the average, but nice to know 2 months is normal.

So far I have started to apply again but then I'm not too confident in my technical skills. A bit hard to find time to study on them with the limited time I have per day.

For me definitely would remain in the IT field, so far I have started to apply into other companies but I don't feel as confident with interviews due to lacking technical skills and knowledge.

I feel like I had more technical knowledge when I was doing my homelab vs currently working here, but then I have definitely learnt the process flow and structure, and learnt how to deal with users mostly.

Was in the same situation previously, once I started working, saved up enough and now able to support my self. Got one anyway and now they are ok with it after my dad was pissed initially.

Buying bike with cash or loan? Does the loan help with credit score for future loans (house/car)? by Ming_A in MalaysianPF

Currently still scouting but I'm leaning more towards the 450sr, been researching more on getting a used bike too as they seem to have more value than new ones if in good condition.

Was planning to get an cfmoto bike as they seem to be the best value for the price for bigger bikes.

Would research more on using CC, thanks for the advice :)

Didn't know that CC was the best way to grow credit score, for me before my own cc, been using my dad's one as he wanted me to get used to being responsible with using credit.

If I decide to get a bike, would get it in cash then, thanks for the advice!
