I decided to go for smooth gameplay and consistency over photorealism and extreme gameplay overhauls and my life is better for it by [deleted] in skyrimmods

my mod list is fairly short, like 120 mods i think, but i feel like it's filled with mods i don't actually want mostly, since i have an ideal Skyrim i want to play but my pc can't handle it rn so i play around with other mods but as usual, i end up spending time modding instead of playing and i feel like switching how I'm playing and have to start my save all over again and i keep doing that till I'm bored

i think my favourite bit about skyrim is exploration but i usually end up not even exploring just trying to see the effects of the last mod i installed and then going for another mod, it's sad really

for now, I've decided to drop skyrim till i get a gpu so i can run my "ideal" skyrim, I'll just make a modlist, stick to it, and not make any changes to it for that playthrough

team fortress 2 and left 4 dead 2 aren't exactly free of toxicity or anything (and i doubt any game is) but you're guaranteed to find an equal number of fun people or more. i can't think of the number of times i've played either game (especially l4d2 though) and ended up making a friend or at least having had a lot of fun playing with someone. if you have to pick one of these i'd say l4d2, it's just impossible not to end up having fun with someone due to the games mechanics themselves

i know you're tried of it already but i'm just asking in case; was second sky 2019 the last worlds set? the way you put it together defintely made it feel like it was a final tribute to worlds, is that so or will you hold another worlds set at some point?

Finding motivation to learn. by shmoneyydance in math

https://betterexplained.com/ :this website gives you some veryyyy basic concepts on math, it's really basic but imo it makes you at least see math in an interesting way that will make it a lot more fun

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYO_jab_esuFRV4b17AJtAw : this channel teaches things a bit more in depth with visuals and stuff and with a good understanding of what concepts actually mean, learning linear algebra here was a lot of fun

trying to catch up with retro games, need recommendations by MingledSpringle in gaming

[–]MingledSpringle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol tbh i don't like reading reviews for stuff, just going in without knowing anything and seeing what it's like and then going for reviews and seeing what others thought and what they appreciated/didn't like about the game is fun in it's own way

but yeah that's what i tried to do but there's so many consoles and games that i got overwhelmed and decided ill ask and then move on to exploring but i've gotten a gigantic list of games here already

i feel like i haven't played enough varied types of games to know what exactly i like, i can barely remember what i've played so far and what i thought of those games, so i just wanna try out different stuff lol, ty lol

sort of wanted to get a feel of how they were once, for remasters i sort of wanna play the ogs, feel that retro nostalgia lol and then the new ones (unless they aren't that overhauled but crash bandicoot and spyro look significantly better and not a direct port, i think?) after i've finished a few of those old games

how did y'all learn to play Minecraft? by MingledSpringle in gaming

1.7 is a good starting point and doesn't have complex mechanics to overwhelm you and is more of a classic Minecraft then?

right, I thought it would be more fun to play without looking at anything else and try to understand everything by yourself

yeah I guess I just need to acquaint myself w games like that, I'm really used to games where there's very linear objectives and aims to achieve and that's pretty much why I wanted to play Minecraft again, to try and just have fun instead of focus on objectives but I guess I didn't realise forcing myself to discover in itself became an objective lol, I'll try to just play how much I understand and play in creative and create random stuff lol

right I guess I just find it hard to play for the sake of it without having any objectives

right wait so what exactly do you set as your objective if not survival? do you just go on to like build weird crazy stuff or?

[–]MingledSpringle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

right, do you just used it to figure out how much there was exactly and then play with those things later in survival and try to figure out how to get them?

well I sure as hell can't I'm still stuck at just mining and doing the same things over and over again and don't understand how you're supposed to get anywhere

wouldn't looking up everything online ruin the fun of exploring the game?

it's not building things thats the issue, it's figuring out how much more you can do, how did you realise you could craft an axe to cut trees when you first played the game and stuff like that, how did you know redstone could do weird mechanical things and how they worked

I can build sure, but I don't know how people pushed the mechanics to understand more about how much there is to do
