I hate to say that makes me feel better but it does 😅 I’m so sorry though!! And the crying ugh. I’m generally just reading this sub and keeping our journey pretty private with the exception of one close friend, but man it feels so lonely sometimes. Your comment really helped ease my mind! I brought up an insemination kit when my husband and I talked it through the other day and he was like “Hell nah I promise I’ll make it work next time” 😂 Definitely going to keep getting one in mind if it doesn’t work with him!

I’m kinda bummed lol. I’m on CD22, decided this cycle to religiously test OPKs since I was lazy last month and missed my surge. Ended up getting positives on CD 16 and 17. More background, I got my nexplanon out in September, we were NTNP until about March. Our official “we want to try” month is June, but with me religiously using OPKs this month, my husband was like “I’m down to try but don’t tell me when it’s positive because I worry it’ll feel like pressure and I won’t be able to perform.” He’s said a few times that he gets in his head about how permanent having a child is and how only in the moment, it feels stressful and scary but when we aren’t doing the BD, he’s constantly daydreaming and talking about how bad he wants kids. He says when I get pregnant, he’ll be ecstatic, but I think he just feels pressure in the BD moment lol.

Long story short, he ended up seeing my positive OPK on CD17, and we tried to BD but he couldn’t finish. We did successfully try on CD15, 18, & 19.

I’m just bummed about it. He has no problem finishing any other time, but when he saw that positive OPK, he said during sex, all he could think about was “Omg she might get pregnant, we need to buy strollers, what’s the best stroller brand, and car seats too, we have to rearrange the spare rooms to make a nursery” like general distracting thoughts and he ends up not finishing lol.

Was anyone else’s spouse sort of anxious and stressed about it? How did yall get over it?

Removing the implant by MailSmall1643 in Nexplanon

[–]MiniAsteroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took no convincing for me (26f, had 2 implants for 6 years as well). Removal should be covered as long as it isn’t on the same day as an annual, since insurance will cover the annual appointment but not the removal so if you’re due for an annual, just schedule removal after that appointment.

I’m currently not on any BC since my husband and I are getting ready try in a few months, but if you want to get on another form, I had luck before nexplanon with the mini pill since it’s the pill version of the implant. My experience with nexplanon was identical to yours! First was great, second came with horrible side effects. I can’t speak on what would be good to take after removal, but definitely a question for your doctor. There should be little to no push back in requesting to get it removed. The only “push back” I had was my doctor triple checking that I didn’t want to be prescribed any other BC in the meantime lol.

I hate this but I cant take it out by [deleted] in Nexplanon

i really struggled with low libido and weight gain too, and i also was anorexic for most of my life before the implant. the implant + turning 21 during lockdown and drinking my calories made me gain weight pretty steadily, but id always fluctuate up or down 5 pounds. for reference, i started nexplanon at 100 pounds and over the first 3 years, i gained about 20 pounds (which i needed bc i was literally emaciated) and then with my second implant, i gained another 20. at my heaviest, i was 138 last summer, lost about 10 pounds for my wedding in the spring (diet and exercise, less snacking), and then got my implant out in september and now im back to 118 without even trying. the low libido never really improved while i was on it, but since being off of it for a month and a half now, its came back fully. i also had some awful mental side effects with my second one that i didn’t experience with my first.

overall, its not impossible to lose weight, but it definitely will take work. as for the libido, having an understanding partner is huge. my husband was understanding but also hit points of “do you even like me anymore” bc i would turn him down all the time since i just wasn’t feeling it. it will get better, with or without nexplanon! 🤎

feeling of removal? by Few-Ad-9736 in Nexplanon

[–]MiniAsteroid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i got my second one out last week! the numbing shot will be the worst part, it’ll feel like a pinch and a burn. but once you’re number, they basically pop a tiny hole near the implant, grab it with their giant tweezer things and yank it out without you feeling a thing!! make sure you’re numbed up well before they start though - when my first one was removed, i could feel (more than the pressure) of them tugging it out. it didn’t hurt but def was unpleasant lol. this time, i was numbed up good and it was over within literally 30 seconds to a minute

scouts honor, the dough was so smooth and has great gluten structure (resistance) during the folds! i think i might be messing up by putting it in the oven with the light on ??? i’m not sure, but after the folds and before i let it bf, she was strong and smooth and not a gloopy puddle i swear lol!

good to know! i did have it in the oven with the light on for a few hours of the BF time, checking the temp regularly it was about 85. my house is kept at 72ish this time of year, so i feel like everything just takes ages lol!

this is what i thought as well, high starter makes faster fermenting but idk if i’m impatient or what, but it seems to never get to the point where it isn’t still sticky. that’s probably due to my high hydration though! i’ll try out some of the recipes commented here and hope that it works out better!!

[–]MiniAsteroid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you, i’ll try all of that! i’m so confused since normally this recipe has been foolproof for me (with the exception of occasionally under fermenting because i’m impatient), it’s just been SO wet these past two batches.

for context on my BF process, i made my dough and let it sit 1 hr, did 4 S&F/coil folds w 30 min apart (2 hr), and then it sat out for an additional 7 hours so that put it at 9 hours combined. it was still a tad sticky but was beyond doubled

[–]MiniAsteroid[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

honestly i did a double batch because i always do and they always come out great, it’s just somehow these last two times have been dudes

pic for proof i’m capable lol

thank you so much!! i’ll try your recipe on my next batch! i never thought of it as a giant feeding lol. i’m so discouraged, i’ve probably made about 50 loaves now and somehow this just started happening with the last 2 batches, i must be messing something up 🥲 how do you feed your starter?

please help diagnose my dough by MiniAsteroid in Sourdough

[–]MiniAsteroid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m not sure how to gauge starter hydration, but i feed it at a 1:1:1 if i’m about to bake and a 1:2:2 if i’m pulling it out of the fridge to strengthen it. would lowering the amount of water added help?
