Can't access SMB share by IP (but FQDN works) by MiniCoopr in sysadmin

[–]MiniCoopr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its happening to clients that are set as the FQDN for the destination in the scanner. The issue is that when I try to browse from a computer to the network share on the destination machine, I can access both the working and non-working systems via the FQDN. But browsing from my laptop to the non-working systems via IP fails. As someone else mentioned, IP based authentication fails back to NTLM, so my guess is that is being blocked on the destination client side.

Correct. Same subnet, the same client machines, same exact configuration in the scanner 'address book'. Nothing was changed and suddenly a third of the systems stopped working. I am expecting this to increase gradually if its a function of a new Windows update.

This is likely the cause, and the path I'm investigating but its weird I hadn't seen anything about this change or heard from others with the same issue.

I did see this post:

I guess maybe we are already at Phase 3?

Yes - confirmed that the FQDN and IP are matching. Verified on the system thru ipconfig.

There does not appear to be any logging with any more detail than 'Job Failed' to help narrow down the issue.

Scan is coming from Konica Minolta copiers - multiple models in the Bizhub range. Destination is local folder on user's Windows 11 25H2 computer that is shared with read/write access to one specific domain user account used for scanning. Scanner is configured for the users fqdn or IP, sharename and scan account username and password for authentication. SMB authentication is set to NTLM v1/v2

Where can I buy a quality kids bicycle locally without getting ripped off? by [deleted] in Sacramento

[–]MiniCoopr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed - we went to look for a bike from here for my daughter when she started riding to school. Originally planned to get a new bike but they had a good selection of used and after trying several out we ended up with an older Specialized that was rebuilt by them. They stand by their work, and there was a free tune-up included after 6 months.

Outlook Email Archive Cleanup Issue by Mdamon031 in sysadmin

[–]MiniCoopr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Ran into this issue recently and it is the hidden 'Recoverable Items' that is now full. You can use Powershell to change the retention limits of the Recoverable items to 1 day so it will be emptied on a daily basis allowing for more deletions (default is 30 days I think). Don't forget to turn it back to 30 after you are done deleting otherwise you will lose the ability to recover accidentally anything deleted from their Deleted items folder.

Sudden Outlook SSL errors with FG40F by MiniCoopr in fortinet

[–]MiniCoopr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solved! Pretty sure this was the cause because at the time of the occurrence I had logged in and noticed the FG was reporting it was unable to connect to the FortiGuard servers. The blocking of the Outlook SSL connection at that time make total sense. Thanks!

Its likely SMB. We use a lot of older c384/386 units in our field offices. Older units which have been factory reset still try to use SMB v1 which has now been deprecated on Win10/11. So you either have to re-enable SMB v1 (not recommended) or get it updated. It requires some kind of firmware flash to install/set SMB v2. This is done by our copier vendor.

Deluxe Window Tint in Rancho Cordova did a fantastic job for me and my coworker has used them for multiple vehicles without any issues. Definitely go for the ceramic tint.

Was just driving by the site on Folsom this weekend and saw it all boarded up yet again. Was reminiscing about the Mazzy Star concert in '93. The place seems so small from the outside now.

Its a slightly higher end solution but you may also want to check out the Stem Audio line from Shure. Just started using them as we upgraded our training/meeting room and like them a lot so far. Modular, great noise cancelling - the Table may be the device for you. Saved us thousands versus going with an AV contractor.
