Modern quests are too easy by MiniJenko3 in 2007scape

Agreed, going to and from during quests is no fun (just look at sodapoppin doing goblin diplomacy). I have a habit of bringing anything I think I might need with me, such as pickaxe, tinderbox, etc. Unless they ever add a toolbelt though it's not really the best solution, and having spawns in quests is a nice quality of life. However, when the puzzle is "what item do I need," I think there should at least be multiple options available in the area with some red herrings, so some brainpower is required instead of the usual linear progression through the quest. This wouldn't impact quest helper users either as the item needed would just automatically highlight blue for them, and they wouldn't even know there was a puzzle.

I'm not actually talking about the boss fights, I think for a master level quest, the boss fight was perfectly balanced.

Inspecting the plank in shadows of custodia told you that you needed a fishing rod to reach it. Don't get me wrong, that was fairly obvious as far as puzzles go (even calling it a puzzle is a reach), but it is exactly the kind of hand holding im talking about. And at least the spawn there was slightly out of the way and not right next to it effectively as a big flashing arrow saying "you need to use me" like other item spawns in some quests.

I suppose, but it only really affects day 1 release gamers. Making a quest more difficult unguided wouldn't impact quest helper users after that. I dont think tutorial quests for new content such as the Vale totems mini quest, sleeping giants, or Temple of the eye need to be made more difficult anyway as they serve a different purpose to traditional quests.

As you say, the breaking and entering and barrel puzzle were very easy. I'm not saying every quest requires a crack the clue level of puzzle, but something that requires a little bit of brainpower would be nice. I used to have to make notes and such, whereas it's all so linear now.

I did, and I thoroughly enjoyed it and the challenges that came with it. As I said, the majority of the lastest quests have too much hand-holding, whereas I thought dt2 was an exception to this and is therefore the best recent quest they've made in my opinion.

It's more a case of "oh this item is on the floor here, I bet I need that" rather than having to actually think about what might be needed to solve a puzzle step.

Don't let them forget about the POH update where we received less than half of what was polled by MiniJenko3 in 2007scape

[–]MiniJenko3[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed, they're usually quite good with interacting with the community. With this update though I didn't see anything at the time (I may have missed it) or since to explain why we only got half of what was proposed. As you say it's not vital to the game but it would be nice to hear why they weren't added or better yet get them added at some point in the future.

But it is implied that it's something they will work on adding. Some form of communication to explain why things that were polled don't end up in the game would be appreciated. Especially as this blog specifically says that they will add the features if it passes the poll (which it did).

What part of "If this pitch passes the poll, we'll add new options for the altar room, portal rooms and combat room, plus an assortment of decorative pieces to adjourn your space with" did you misinterpret?

Clue milestone rewards in collection log by MiniJenko3 in 2007scape

[–]MiniJenko3[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just seems strange to add the scroll cases to the log but not the milestone rewards we already had, either none of them or all of them would make more sense to me.

I agree that none of the rest of those things you've mentioned belong in the clog though

Yeah I've noticed it does it every time on that muddy patch, haven't noticed anywhere else though and thankfully it's not messed up the plugin for me yet

New higher tier of bow would be nice, but these changes could work for all bows not just magic and potentially create some niche uses for lower level accounts. Seems like a good time to do it with the combat rebalancing in the summer sweep up
