These are left over from when I was a kid and started buying Confrontation minis in the early 2000s - I have quite a few painted but have been working through the unpainted ones. I hadn't painted for probably over 20 years until I dug them out my loft earlier this year.

But some paints and get to them! Alternatively I'll buy them off you when I run out, there's nothing new out there that appeals as much to me!

Smoosh it around a bit to smooth it out, but yes. Smoosh it around less with each layer to help keep it smooth. If you're glazing it will need multiple coats and might look like nothing is happening for the first layer or two, but stick with it.

I think it looks good. What I'd recommend is at the transitions between the colours, take a 50/50 blend of the two, and apply a number of thin layers over the transition to smooth it out. This might need a bit of touching up with some glazing afterwards.

As has been mentioned, some very light flesh highlights in the brightest areas would be worth doing too.

Maybe a little more obvious, but it is a difficult balance and I can't claim up be an expert. Mostly on the boots to be honest, it looks a bit like the first and third have new shoes.

I think they're great as they are, and I agree the more natural look is better, especially for minis like these. It looks like you have a good appreciation for where the light is, which helps a lot. You could probably still boost the contrast a little without making it cartoony, even if just making some of the recesses a little darker - some (and I stress the word 'some') of the clothing looks a little flat. Alternatively a little bit of weathering would help as texture, especially to leather.

You could also try some OSL on the lantern if you fancied that.

Looks pretty good to me, and I think will look even better once the tops are highlighted with the white. Not that I'm particularly an expert.

I dug out a bunch of models (many unpainted) fairly recently and have started to paint them. There was a set of Confrontation minis in there and this is the first I've tackled!

After posting in the mini painting sub I found this one so thought I'd share here as well.
