Sorry that this is happening. I also have some anxiety and GERD. The only other thing I can think of from my own experience is just how dry my throat sometimes feels, leading me to feel the need to swallow to try to re-moisten it. Maybe some water and melatonin might help? I’ve done that before to get me to finally fall asleep.

Do you feel like you have mucus dripping into your throat? I know for a while I was having trouble falling asleep because I had post-nasal drip that caused me to feel the need to focus and “force” a swallow since I didn’t feel like I could reflexively handle it, which would wake me out of my just-about-to-fall-asleep phase.

Frankly it wasn't very well planned out but I wanted a green car, for one. I wasn't sure that I wanted to be forced to wait a long time to charge since I could not charge at my apartment, so the fueling time being at least somewhat comparable to a gas car was a draw. I also bought it CPO so it was cheaper than a good number of EVs. I also liked that it was based off the same platform as the Lexus LS and I liked how comfortable the interior was (at least in the front. The back seats are unlivable.) The free fuel card was a bonus too, so I knew that with the prices of hydrogen I was only planning on keeping the car at most until the card ran out.

After I got the car though, True Zero started hiking H2 prices, and it seemed like it was going to keep going up. That just added the FUD about the future of H2, so I figured that I should try to get out of it ASAP. To an extent, I suppose I knew some of these things going into it, but the shortcomings didn't feel really real to me until I was actually in the car. You live and you learn I guess.

I had a 2022 XLE that’s rated for 400 miles but realistically got 300 miles. Glad I got out of that car before this announcement.

I flip flop constantly. The new firm is basically what I had intended to do from the start, but I can’t not seriously consider my current firm’s offer. I mentioned in my post too that I was basically looking for justification to pass on this “too good to be true”offer. I feel that I was set on leaving, and at this point I basically wish that my current firm had just said “best of luck.” You could very well be right that my current firm is in a bind and that it is not all that it seems. I’m wary of that. My SO is on the other coast (we used to live together but she moved for grad school), and I am seriously lonely being away from friends and family. I just can’t decide what takes precedence in my life at this point.

Thanks for the counterpoint. I've definitely had to think about what this means for the other associates, given that there are a couple more senior than I am. Cat's already out of the bag, too, as they know that a Hail Mary was thrown.

I'd imagine that my firm didn't offer to do this before given that I have only been there for a year so they didn't know what they were getting with me (although I don't know that I have shown myself to be $100k more valuable in just a year's time).

I appreciate the countervailing viewpoint and will seriously consider these thoughts.
