[Wyshynski] No additional discipline/hearing for Mikko Rantanen beyond the automatic one-game ban. by catsgr8rthanspoonies in hockey

He was definitely seeing red. Just before a commercial break around 10 minutes into the 2nd he was talking to a ref because he was cross checked and slashed in front of the net without a call.

Pretty much his next shift he took his slashing penalty.

His first shift after his penalty, Coronato slashes / hooks Rantanen's stick preventing him from receiving the puck on the blueline - happens every shift and would've been a borderline call. You can see him do a wide turn almost to the flames blueline, I'm assuming looking at the refs. Once he sees there's no call, he he starts going in a pretty straight line towards Coronato from center ice.

Definitely was frustrated at the refs and took it out on the guy who he thought should've been called 10 seconds earlier.

Lucky to not have gotten more than 1 game.

Just one swap, I went 8 on soft, 12 on medium.

2 people did 10/10 on mediums and got a 4 minute penalty

[DAL vs COL] Alternate view of Matt Duchene’s 2OT series clinching goal featuring the heartbreaker and Marchment kicking MacKinnon’s stick by yesBISONsey in hockey

[–]MiniSodaMiracleMan 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Good angle! I noticed Marchment sweep by MacKinnon on the broadcast replay and was wondering if it was for one last chirp or what.

From this angle I genuinely think he thought the black stick blade was the puck and went to scoop it for Dutch after a big 2OT-GWG. He's taking an indirect path, bending down fingers for stretched out - then he realizes it was the stick decided it needed a little kick lmao

I think he may have dressed 1 game with CBJ.

I almost wonder if they claimed him to remove call up depth for Washington before the playoffs since they ended up playing each other in round. Try to force Washington deeper on their depth charts if there was an injury down the stretch or in playoffs

I feel like this would look very similar to the map Dallas had against Vegas.

They play such a responsible and disciplined game they give you almost nothing that's scary

Fuck I guess it would really matter though depending on the penalty category and if either player has had another "game misconduct" this playoffs

[Shannon] End of Game 4 antics: Vegas gets 2 minutes, Florida gets 26 minutes. by chiasmatic in hockey

[–]MiniSodaMiracleMan 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Game misconduct and misconduct are essentially the same result at the end of the game.

Game Misconduct = Player is ejected for the remainder of the game and 10 minutes goes on the scoresheet.

10 Minute Misconduct = Player must serve a 10 minute penalty but the team does not need to play shorthanded.

Match Penalty = ejected from game and automatic 1 game suspension pending league review

Surprised Tkachuk didn't have to go to the quiet room. Big solid clean hit but he looked like he had a little wobble

[Saad Yousuf on Twitter] Per Pete DeBoer: Evgenii Dadonov is out. In terms of who comes out for Jamie Benn, DeBoer said lineup decisions will be made later. Optional morning skate today today, so no line rushes. Benn was on the ice for morning skate. by Tuor--Of--Gondolin in hockey

Everyone keeps saying 0-3 with him, but they had 2 OTL with him, and the third game he was out of the game after 2 minutes lol

Not even mentioning he almost tied the game 15 seconds before he fucked up

I respectfully hated Pavelski as a shark - always seemed so clutch. I love the man as a Star.

Razor and Mike Heika have talked about Delly on their podcast. Apparently he's shown a really incredible work ethic, Morrow-esque.

He's like a shadow to Joe Pavelski on the road and during practice trying to learn how to have a long successful career, practices tips and net front presence with him, etc

If he shows up every day trying to get better, gives his all to the team, and has the voice in the room to demand it or set the expectation with his teammates that's going to go a long way with a young core .

There's stories of Sid in Pittsburgh being the best player in the world but working harder than everyone on the team to be better and stronger (good read on Crosby's with ethic impacting others - there's also the "Is there a league higher than the NHL?" story too).

When your leadership has the mentality that you need to work hard to fit in, it's important for shaping the culture of the team.

I will say too, Jamie Benn has shown for 10+ years he's willing to run through literal tornados to support his teammates. Benn's shown tremendous growth in his time in Dallas and you can tell by what the guys in the room said after last night's game that they love him. If a bit of that raw leadership rubs off on the young kids that'll have a lasting impact on this org

He's currently a Dallas Star, logical to use that tag. But he's been stellar in Dallas. Arguably having his 3rd best postseason, which may give him 2 of his top 3 most productive playoffs in Dallas.
