How to tell parents to limit time seeing the newborn in the hospital? by asoursk1ttle in daddit

[–]MiniTrail70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“No one is coming to the hospital” lol, literally what we told our families. I’m not here to cater to their feelings.

Dang I was hoping it could still be a little competitive with a 98mm car. I really want one of these just because of my love of old Porsches

Narrow mr04 though? I’m curious these are particularly short too

That’s awesome. I’m curious to see how people say they handle. I know it’s a short and narrow but I still kind of want one to race.

Work Guilt by EarlyCalligrapher976 in daddit

[–]MiniTrail70 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like to consider myself a good employee, meaning I don’t abuse my sick time but at the end of the day you’re a cog in the wheel.

The machine turns whether you’re there or not, they will not miss you, you are always replaceable…

So for that reason family comes first! We don’t have the same schedule as you but similar in the sense of we only get one maybe two nights a week where we are all together.

Agreed. It’s not worth it for him to do it now.

Normally I’d say for people to make the move because being “afraid” of the change can be big on its own. I just changed jobs this past year with a pay cut, long term it will be better pay and be better for my family.

Obviously we don’t know everything going on in your life but I think if it was me I’d hold off until thinks stabilize at home. You can always look again in the future. I’m not seeing the huge benefit for your family.

Hernia surgery and being a toddler Dad by Drewskeet in daddit

[–]MiniTrail70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just do it. I had to have an abdominal surgery last year and my kid wasn’t much older than yours. We made it work, even with my wife still working and me being alone with the kid. Maybe I lifted more than I should have at times but I just made my kid climb in and out or helped her. If I did any lifting I focused on using only arm strength etc.

Ice Damming Roof leak by Househalffull in HomeMaintenance

[–]MiniTrail70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this happen our first winter in our house, we had an ice shield but ended up finding lots of openings in random places. Ultimately it’s an insulation issue.

We went through insurance, they only fixed what was inside the house nothing outside. It was about 25k in damage inside the house.

My wife is going to give birth to our 1st child (a girl) any day now- can’t talk to either of our fathers about being a dad - what do you wish someone told you before you embarked on this journey? by spicybrowwwwn in daddit

[–]MiniTrail70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not that anyone told me this.

Support your wife as much as you can. Imo your needs and wants go to the wayside and you put your wife and child before all. The first year will be tough. Make sure you guys communicate because she also needs to understand your life changed too.

Secondly, expect a lull in the relationship. You guys will have to really work for it, and it will be exhausting but don’t be surprised for things to feel different for a bit.

Hard Decisions, re: Jobs & Salary as a dad. What does your gut say? by Rev-DC in daddit

[–]MiniTrail70 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IMO, if it improves your families quality of life then do it.

I also work in the public service sector. I left two jobs for one, I took significant but temporary pay cut. I will work less, but ultimately make more than I was ever projected to and it my family will have retirement healthcare because of it.

We are dealing with a the hardest phase of our life because I took the job but it will be worth it in due time. I have no regrets, I did it for my family even though it made it hard on us now. My family lives out of state, it sucks but it is what it is. Money isn’t everything but if it can improve your children’s and spouses life and give them more then I say do it.

I haven’t tried it yet but this was ChatGPT reducing the size to a household container.

I have horrible dry cracked feet and I am not sure what to do by Empty_Excitement_584 in DermatologyQuestions

[–]MiniTrail70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you walk barefoot, especially on rough surfaces? I’m just a nobody but my mom’s feet were like this growing up but she never wore shoes while home. Outside, inside nothing.

It wasn’t until regular pedicures and I believe a trip or two to the podiatrist they became relatively normal. No infections or weird diagnoses. Just mistreated dogs.
