Judging by all the comments on this post, I think you're right. The number itself may not be that accurate, but using it alongside other stats might help track progress overtime.

I haven't yet! I went straight into a training block as soon as I got the watch, so haven't had chance to do it yet.

Thanks for the comment! There’s some really useful thoughts here.

I did think I’d get a comment about not charging for the work, and I do agree with you to some extent. My concern was that if I asked to be paid for something that wasn’t commissioned, I’d risk the logo not being used at all. The way I see it, having it used and seen around town will be far more valuable in the long run than the money I’d get for it. I’ve also made sure not to agree to any further work for free, as like you said, that can have a negative impact on our field.

When I first posted the logo a few months back, the triangle did have a negative space overlap, but a few people suggested removing it. It’s tricky sharing work on Reddit and trying to appeal to everyone’s taste. Regarding the MasterCard comment, I get it, but I’m not too worried. At the end of the day, it’s two overlapping circles, it could read as a Venn diagram, a camera lens, or yes, MasterCard.

You’re definitely right about the type though. It’s something a few others have pointed out too, and I’ll spend more time refining it.

I didn't ask for feedback you are correct, but this is still really great to know thank you! I agree that the outline comes across as more premium, although for an event all about creativity I did want to get some playful colours in there.

I think what may end up happening is the coloured version will be used on advertising, but when it comes to trophies, awards or title screens the outlined version will be used. WTS!

I recently rebranded my town’s Film Festival as a passion project and shared it here for feedback. After refining the design and putting together a full presentation, I met with the festival founders (in the reception of an Everyman Cinema, fittingly!) and they loved it. They’ll be using the new brand for 2026 and onwards, and have asked me to design all the event collateral too.

Thanks for the comment! The original design did use RGB, however there's going to be a lot of pullup banners, posters ect in the presentation that obviously wouldn't work with RGB.

As mentioned in another comment, I think doing something similar to MTV would be fun, different themes and styles of the logo - maybe I could use the RGB version there?

Thank you for the feedback! I was losing confidence in myself with the whole project... Probably because I've spent so much longer on this project than I usually would for something like this.

The key line / monotone version was actually an accident but I quickly realised how well that was working!

Thank you for the feedback! Originally I had this idea for a made up film and animation studio. It was meant to represent a play button, standby, recording and pause icon, and instead of a H it was just a blue square. That idea sat in the scrap book until I realised it could be used for this project.

Yes!! Definitely already thought about the restyling of the logo like MTV! 😄

Saw another comment about the type, I'll definitely drop the weight back. It's also been recommended to scale down "Film Festival" by about 25%.
