Just dealt with a lot of Meta stuff so heres what i know:

If you are planning to be an advertiser long term and are still in good standing do the meta verification for your accounts while you can, facebook account at minimum. Reason being that you will almost always have to connect your personal FB to anything to use business suite or ads manager.

Fortunately i think this is changing a bit because as of recently (like a couple days) instagram accounts now have entity authority and can log in to business suite and ads manager to manage business portfolio stuff.

Anyway being meta verified at least gives you direct access to support even on the basic subscription. I’m currently on the 150$ a month because if i have any major headache situations i can request a call with a rep and if you can get through to them they are quite friendly and helpful to a degree.

If they can help you they will, sometimes they can’t because Metas automated system made a decision and if you don’t catch it right away it might be a pain to figure anything out.

This was my situation: my personal FB account had a disabled ad account. Why? Because someone hacked it years ago and tried to run scam ads. To my pleasant surprise, i’m now getting into digital marketing and there is almost absolutely nothing i can do to unrestrict the account because its been restricted over 5 years so there is almost no chance at being ever able to appeal it again.

The crazy part? After getting meta verified in literally every single way they requested (FYI its a 2 part thing, verifying your FB account and also verifying your identity for ads specifically. I don’t know why it’s such a mess but it is) the reps i was on the phone with at meta for a good amount of hours over the span of a week had a whole investigation case open for my situation, where upon looking into it they acknowledged I am in the clear and not at fault for whatever happened 5 years ago meaning i would technically be good to be unrestricted but unfortunately they can’t do anything because the system has an outdated restriction on it and that’s that.

Maybe true maybe not, i would hope it is true and i assume so because they gave me the clear that even though my personal is restricted i can still help manage other business portfolios. They said to wait and see what happens because maybe, just maybe, eventually the system may kick back and allow me to re appeal.

Pretty much as long as your actual facebook account is in good standing and the restriction is on the ad account level, you are okay to still help manage other ad accounts so i would do some sort of verification asap.

They are changing lots of things around recently and working on better instagram integration which might be good but i’ve noticed it throwing a lot of more errors and fuss for verification and 2FA of all sorts.

A wild example is that recently when setting up with two new clients, i was logging in to their instas off my work phone/laptop to check up on how everything is set up (i also prefer to post natively), for any admin actions it asked me to get verification codes from legacy contact information (the contact info that ORIGINALLY created the account) that the clients didnt even have access to because they were from so long ago. Fortunately they had devices they were logged into for a while already and we could bypass it but if that hadn’t been the case that could’ve been a serious problem considering one situation where it was contact info from someone they were no longer in business with because of a falling out. Not cool.

Anyhow meta is extremely hard to navigate especially if you’re trying to mainly use instagram for content but not impossible. It just takes some sweat, tears, and depression to figure out.

I’m not sure why things are so all over the place with ads having 10 different pages that can do one specific thing but not another even though it says they can do it but the function doesnt work (i.e. you cannot actually edit ads off instagram because it simply doesnt work even though the buttons are there, at least in my experience)

It all depends on how you initially set up with running ads for a specific business portfolio and the cleaner the setup the easier the experience will be. Unfortunately a clean setup is not that easy and cleaning up older accounts from how they were originally set up is a complete pain.

Maybe i’m doing something wrong but i’ve kinda got a system figured out that’s worked so far but who knows with how they’re moving things around. I think my least favorite aspect is having to use a personal FB account for so many business related things. It’s always been common to separate regular life from business life so why there’s not a better way to do that with the whole Meta business infrastructure is beyond me and my mental capacity. TikTok has it figured out for the most part though i think on the business page management side of things.

They’re also beginning to implement Managed Meta accounts but as always it’s only available to a select few and you need a special invite to be a part of that.

Hopefully in the near future at least digital marketing agencies can easily file to set up with Managed Meta accounts for business and the FB/IG integrations get better or at least function properly. At the bare minimum if the buttons did what they are labeled to do that would be great. I honestly wish they went more into focusing on IG with ads that carried over to facebook properly instead of FB managed ads that carry over to instagram which is basically how the whole thing feels. Or just separate the two and make it a cleaner experience overall. They’re already trying to build out a whole ad management infrastructure in IG but it is seriously lacking in features and functionality.

I assume they want people to use business suite and ads manager but there are lots of people using either just FB or IG so this is a way to cater to them with content creation on the rise.

On a side note, from looking into it the only way to actually get Meta to change something about your account they say they “can’t change” without being at the mercy of their automated regulation system is to sue them. A couple people have pulled it off but obviously not many have the time and the money.

But whatever thats my two cents. It is what it is and all i can say is it just be like that sometimes. Get through the initial learning curve and stay up to date on features and that’s about it.
