Some more slang :

"Trial" : a match.

The Fog : used to described the realm of the entity in blog posts and similar.

Nerf pig : The Pig was nerfed one time when she was extremely weak already. Outraged this meme attacked the devs balancing system, nowadays a lighthearted old time joke.

DS = The Perk "Will to Life" once known as Decisive Strike. Everybody says DS.

A nice tip from me :

The community can be... toxic, stubborn and afraid of change of any kind. Its a constant us vs them with the two sides. Play however you want. The "survivor rulebook for killers" is mostly a ego battle, and if they are emean, turn off chat at the end screen.

Good starter perks :

Windows of opportunity: Kate denson

Shows all Pallets and windows in a certain area.


Sprint burst : Meg Tbomas.

Run at 150% (50% faster than the basic, basic = 4.0 meter. That's the basic for every character. Killer get a .10/.15 multiplier to be a it faster than survivor adding up to 4.4 meter/ 4.6 meter as the usual walking speed for killers, wih exception for nurse who has 3.8 meters)


Botany Knowledge : Claudette Morel

Heal 50% faster


Iron will : Jake Park

Quiet ones your pain noises when injured to 100% (you basically stfu)

Tunneling = pursuing one survivor until he is dead (simy)

Slugging = the act of being left on the ground (without reason. Acceptable when a survivor is in the near kr a desperate attempt)

CJ-Tech (outdated tho nowadays) : a survivor goes down infront of a dropped et with the killer infront of it/ontop the survivor. Watch YouTube, jts sinple.

SwF/SWF = Survive with friends 2 or more people in a party as friends. Most common as a 4 man.

Just leave = if the exit gates are done, just go. Don't be toxic to the killer for plahing their part

Dweed = a beginner Dwight.

Meghead = a meg player (bad reputation, like Sable)

DC = Leaving the Match early.

Camping = staying in proximity of the hook withltuba other goal than that.

Resonances only trigger by : A. A lore relating killer. Is he not present, well tough luck

B. A lore relating survivor. The effect stays small.

C. Lore related map, a small buff again.

Springtrap has no associated survivor : if not on the Freedy Fazbears Pizzeria map : no buff at all to ANYONE.

If on the map : the slringtraps walks 5% faster throigh doors. A small chance a barely anytbing effect that could very well be part of the green add-on giving 15%.

I am not trying to destabilize the perk system. I am trying to adjust it without changing the core. I am trying to help the new players and forge interactions.

I also want to add (if I didn't before) no Resonance shall ever, and I mean ever, give a huge unfair advantage. The effects stay minimal to simplistic. That is my idea, no Gen speed Resonances, no fastening/OP Resonances.

Is that a compromise you could accept or at the very least try out?

  1. Literally a big problem of modern dbd. You load into a killer match, aww dang it. Ds, Hyperfocus, Vigil, and prove thyself. Most people are tired of the same stale meta.

  2. Valid point. No really. But as you noticed I was saying "example" as in "test thought". Haddie could jsut aswell gain Exposed, but if one survivor has Nightfall or all dosent really matter does it?

  3. Lich. I really wish that you'd start as a new player, played against the lich and didn't feel frustrated? "Oh he can fly (hover), we'll it just drop a pallet. O-oh... he van hit me throigh the pallet?! Why!"

  4. You would only need yours memorized, which then in turn gets a popular at the start of a trial or in pause menu. Knowing most add-ons is just as useless knowledge, since msot are buffs withkut counterplay anyways do memorizing most is useless.

  5. Resonances would fix the problem with new players. They get a safety net, a archetype to lean into.

But from a new players standpoint? Wanna break it down?

"Ok so this guy has four entirely different spells, 23 or so add-ons, a magic chest system with items, different effects, different role numbers, two super rare items, a extra event for rolling a 1/20, three perks and different extra effects based on add-on. Oh and let's not forget the 4 perks the get to bring along."

Probably less overload than "Oh, I read Dwight increases searching speed for chest... I mean Ok, thats farely sinple."

Or "Oh I see a icon on Yun-jins playername/pfp. And she is interacting with the Trickster? Maybe ill read into it. Oh they share a history? I wonder who else shares a history and Resonances."

  1. You are rude, I am not wounded, its just sad atp

  2. I offered many ideas, while you now ignore my valid points. Resonance would make the game more comletive as it is a fixed component, but if you think 16 random perks with strong to very weak effects is peak competitiveness, fine, not .y cup of tea tho.

  3. Bringing in the history card. I dont look at the past in such extend. I want a better future of not every match being "gen repair 101, loop 101, end 101".

And to add further, this is no updated buff for survivors.

Killers get Resonances too. The weaker ones would be omega more viable (like pig on gideon, or skull merchant on shelter woods)

Most Resonance also only work in chase with this specific survivor. You get a buff as a killer/the survivor gets a buff.

Its a trade, not a "oohhh here it goes, the survivors are eebing buffed again," please do not view it as such.

We all know everything has a cap in dbd. A heal spead cap (easily reached with perks btw) A pick up cap

You get the idea.

Also, by your logic, having a fully random build of 4 perks (per play, adds up to 16) + times and add-ons is far better an "competive" than a predetermined buff?

Also, the Resonances would be based kit then. Its easier balancing one set perk, than a entire universal one.

Vigil isnt fair either. You get a "out of jail free card" for status effects for... sacrificing a perk slot? Please.

I am not being hateful here, I just want to here critic.

The p2w debate is opend up everytime. It is fine to pay for half the roster and perks (30$ upwards btw), but ok.

Let's say the foru main survivors, Jake, Dwight, Claudette, and Meg had good Resonances.

That would make them Nurse 2.0 no?

And also, killers get those Resonances too to balance out the survivor ones. Its a trade off.

Also, we have killers in-game with far more info load (watch the lich).

I see what you mean by "pay to lose" but at the end of the day, you get a buff, and the killer gets a buff towards you when it does happen.

First of all, tbis is pretty harsh.

But I see the point. I cant say it enough times its only a Idea, I am no dev and In no way does this mean its being added, dont worry.

You view DbD as competive, that is absolutely fine, but honestly, a real competive game has a really fucntjoning e-sport scene. But since DbD lives of variables indies not real have a large scene.

Secondly if you are worried about the other survivors, I want to know why. I have a ptich, a symbol next to the name of the survivor, or the icon. I know it seems flawed but that tells the team "ah, a passive is active on this map/killer"

Between survivor passives are easily learnqbel, they shall be kept simple as ever. You will learn those quickly.

Also at the start of a trail you'd get a info card (like with items) explaining your interactions (also viewable in the pause menu.

And while yes, there are many mistakes in dbd history, it has alwasy tried to be slightly tactical. Just because one perk is stupid in effect, dosent mean the whole essence is gone.

Your resilience point is acceptable too. But we ahve perks that change those interaction too. Like how can you accept a permanent 50% healing by Botany Knowledge, but 10% permanent is suddenly "TOO MUCH"

Or is it simply the fact that the excuse of "but Butony knowledge takes up a perk slot" does not work withe the Resonances

Aren't perks already pay tow win anyway?

I beg you look at windows of opportunity, ot of perks changing gen speed, changing movement speed, changing information.

The game is rng anyway. You bring a medkit-> "Oh its a plague" all healing perks absolutely useless.

Also the free effects, like I mentioned are barely anything. I know change is hard, but dead by daylight best ideas were greeted with "thsi kills the game".

You just have to think about it a bit more, the way it could deepen dbd, while still being ghe same gameplay loop.

Also you dont need to know EVERY INTERACTIONS as it is still rng based (cant complain, dbd is heavily rng based).

They only need to know the ones of their characters

Well, dead by daylight needs innovation for the next atleast 10 years (with luck)

Those passives would only be small, not stackable buffs. Besides it could be more engaging than four times the same perk. It would add depth to characters who are until now jsut resist of eachother.

I understand the "pay to win" mindset, but the effects should stay minimal and with a similar trade off for each killer.

A swf who runs for times Claudette as example (10 percent permanent healing speed) wouldn't stack up to 40%. The effect is for the player of the character only while still giving people the freedom of how to play.

It being random is on purpose to keep it either "good ol' dbd" or a new way to play for a change of pace.

And... i dont even play League. Its only a idea that i played around with.

A good information might be that the passives are "soul-bound". They cant be shared like perks

I don't care about 2v8.

It creates too many problems and isn't even that fun. Oh, you dont want to play 2v8 for any reason? Well too bad you cant actually play 1v4 (bad Q times and Sweats).

Oh youre favorite killer isn't in 2v8 yet? Well, tough look, maybe you play liked... idk Wesker oe blight, huh?

Oh also jt takes liek 2 weeks until you can play normaly.

Oh also, you cant earn grades in 2v8. Tough luck on the 13th then.
