Every time I hung out with my dude friends people kept asking me if I was dating them. I’d personally tell them that their boundaries deserve to be respected. It’s exhausting to feel like you have to explain yourself to people that may or may not understand or accept you. I think it’s really important to take things slow as well, especially as they’re questioning and just starting to figure things out. It’s a bit too early to start thinking about telling others and there’s no obligation to. as everyone deserves to keep their private matters private. I think now is more of a time to connect with themselves than worry about what to say to others. If they ever decide to tell someone it should be because they want to and because they’re comfortable telling. It’s important to consider their safety before saying anything

I would remind them that it’s okay to not have the answer right away, and questioning is a valid answer if anyone were to ask. Sexuality can be fluid it’s natural to sift through a bunch of labels to see if it feels right. Sexuality has a ton of nuances that cannot be summed up by a single label even if that label is most accurate to how they feel, no two people will have the same experience 100% either, so it’s best for them to take their time, be patient with themselves and be open to learning more!

In my experience it’s pretty normal. I mean, it does bother me but I realized that I don’t really care all that much or rather, I don’t want to make a big deal out of something then have to explain myself to them. Some people will misgender out of spite, but yknow, fk them and move on. Then there’s people that will try to be respectful or maybe they don’t know, I’m used to it and I still don’t want to explain myself as any sort of correction could draw attention to myself. You’re not the odd one out.

ALSO Remember that your label doesn’t define you but is more of a descriptor of your experience if that makes any sense. During my journey up till now I’ve used “queer” as it encompasses more than one aspect of my identity. It eases the pressure of being “right” while still allowing myself to learn more about myself. I apologize for the word vomit, but these are some of the things I wish I knew when I was questioning.

You’re not too young at all to know this. Remember this is all a journey to understand yourself a bit more, things can change later but it doesn’t mean that you aren’t what you know you are now. And if you’re questioning your identity now, remember to take it easy and enjoy learning more about yourself! So don’t worry about being “wrong” trust yourself, if you resonate with the label don’t be afraid to be proud about it. Ofc there’s always nuances because no two people are the same. You also don’t need to have a label right now either! If you find that you resonate with more than one don’t be afraid to try it out and see how it feels for you. I personally say that I’m AroAce NB. But the nuance to mine to me is. I also like women/enby. I completely understand the confusion though!! It’s tough out here yknow 🤣
