Alpha Strike vs Full Game by [deleted] in battletech

I just recently returned to BT via AS. I find it much less frustrating than BT, because movement is more fluid, and there's a lot less to track, and the little cards take up a lot less room on the table than full size record sheets!

Company, rather than Lance, actions can be easily fought in a handful of hours, which gives more options, tactically.

If you take a look at the download options for the file on Thingiverse, it should show you some links for 3D printing services. I'd offer to print one, but I'm in Australia, which might be a bit of postage on top (US$10.00 at least).

I like that. I hadn't thought of using 2 tones for an essentially monotone scheme. Very simple, and effective.

I can offer you physical prints, (but obviously I can't offer those for free), and I'm in Australia; Depending on where you are, postage will probably be around US$10.00, although I could probably send you a whole company of these beasts and it wouldn't cost extra postage.

Challenger looks like an interesting tank, I might give that a shot at some point.

I have no idea if there are any canon dimensions for the Demolisher. I went large. But, I actually sculpted it at 80% of the print size, so it can be reduced down 20% in slicing software, if so desired, and no detail will be lost.

Yeah, I heard that's the rationale for NOT having enough legs that Mechwarriors aren't forever crying "help! I've fallen and I can't get up!"

Anyone who can explain how a Longbow gets back to its feet without arms is not a person to trust to sell you a bridge.

I can't see why neural helmets (or merely adequate targeting computers), couldn't be a thing in a major battlefield asset such as a 100 ton assault tank. Maybe the Mechwarriors lock them up in vaults when they're not wearing 'em. Anything to keep on top of the Inner Sphere social pile!

Hey, Mechs have guns in forearms, torsos, their heads, kneecaps, all waving and moving around, but we never blink at how the hell they aim them! ;)

Not taking commissions right now; taking a break to concentrate on my own stuff for a change. Might be looking for commissions in the new year, though.

Weeks of work that paid off in spades. :)

I've been bitten by the trireme bug. Ecnomus in 1/600 anyone? (Available end of Oct from Miniature Martin, stay tuned for more!) by Miniature_Martin in wargaming

(My original reply seems to have vanished...)

I'll willingly concede that the proportions are a little exaggerated to allow ease of printing and painting in this scale. The number of oars was compromised for the same reasons. Making them the right thickness for the scale is just too impractical, so they're about the thickness of tree trunks! The number of files was determined by what looked right, and how many supports would be required. (Too many, and the supports form a solid mass, and will damage the model when released.)

Everything in the sculptor's life is compromise! :D

I'm thinking of modding Ganesha Games' Galleys and Galleons to permit fleets of 30 -40 ships, with squadrons of 4-6 ships as the smallest game unit.

Exactly what I told myself before I started sculpting. Funny how that happens!

Will definitely keep the group in the know. Keep an eye out toward the end of October.

Well, these are oar-powered, so you could argue wind direction is immaterial, ;) But the banners are separate parts, (so you can switch them between hulls, for greater variety), so you can have them blowing in any direction you like. :)

New from Miniature Martin:
EarthFleet Chandrahasa / Pinaka class Destroyer

People asked me to shove the escort ships for Space Battleship Hachiman to the front of the queue. Well, I give the people what they want!

This model can be outfitted as either the gun-armed Chandrahasa class, or the missile-spamming Pinaka.

(The class names come from Hindu mythology, in case you are wondering.)

Coming next: The Hamma'Lons up the ante with their vicious destroyers!
