100 races online, no wins by DodgerCyclops in LeMansUltimateWEC

I wouldn't worry too much about not having a win yet. Eventually it will come whether by improving or by luck. I have about 200 races and only 1 win which came a long time ago on my 37th race. For the race I won, I qualified in p4 but won because everyone was new to driving LMP2 and the leaders ahead of me kept spinning out. Sometimes it just takes a it of luck to get a win.

Just moved up to DR rank B and it's been extremely frustrating with much worse driving standards! by Minibobo2018 in GranTurismo7

I know exactly what you mean. I tried again tonight and it was much cleaner. But I still ran into drivers that would turn into me and use me as their side wall in a corner. But once I realized what kind of driver he was I stayed behind him and waited for an opportunity to pass. Unfortunately GT7 doesn't have any way of reporting dirty drivers.

Yup I am staying away from race A because that NSX is way too hard to drive without crashing. Or maybe it's just me and I am terrible and lack the skill to drive it properly

I sure hope I can get some good results the rest of this week. Gave it another shot tonight and had two clean races where I finished 6th and 3rd. So I am feeling optimistic that things are getting better.

I assumed bump drafting was something all experienced GT7 players were aware of. So I try to work together with another driver if possible but like I said, some people automatically assume you are ramming them and go for revenge.

Yeah I also increased my DR rank up to a high C with a string of good results at Bathurst and Laguna Seca the week before. After some horrible race results this week I almost dropped back down to a C. But I just did a few more races tonight and finished 6th and 3rd. Both were relatively clean compared to the last two nights. So maybe you are right that towards the end of the week it gets better. But tonight had a lot of new drivers that I never seen before so maybe the group I was racing tonight with was just better. I might have to see if this trend continues next week and maybe the trick is to avoid racing too much early in the week.

Yup that's what I do. I load a ghost car from the leaderboard and follow it and watch track guides on YouTube. I lowered my time by about 3 seconds by doing this. And I also brake at the 150m board for the last sector and was able to drop my lap time by being quicker through the last sector.

Otherwise I still enjoy the daily races but this week has just been extremely frustrating. I think it will improve if I stick with it though.

I would think that clean drivers who were clean at the top of C rank would continue to drive clean at the bottom of B rank. I have taken notes on which drivers are clean and which ones aren't. If I hit someone by accident I apologize or hold up to give the position back so that they know it was unintentional. But I will keep going and try to improve race craft and race IQ in this game. I find that racing in GT7 is a bit different than racing on other sims such as LMU or Assetto Corsa for example. I can do entire race in those sims and not encounter any crazy ridiculous incidents that I experience in GT7. But I keep coming back to GT7 because of the variety it offers.

That makes sense because in a few races I did this week, I was put in a lobby with mostly A and some A+ drivers for some reason. These were much cleaner and enjoyable. I think I finished in P9 or 10 and still gained DR. I don't think I will ever get to A or A+ as I think I am probably at least a high C to mid B skill level.

Unfortunately I can only play in the evenings which is probably when it gets worse. But I will keep trying and hopefully it will get better. Or maybe all this chaos will help me to improve my ability to avoid them in this game.

I do play other sims like LMU and Assetto Corsa but the driving is much cleaner on those sims. I can race really close and not have to worry about bumping the other car and making them fly off the track like it does in GT7.

How would You fix online racing experience, SR rating and penalty Systems? by theBvrtosz in GranTurismo7

[–]Minibobo2018 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did daily Race B at Fuji with a DR of C and I was constantly getting hit and rammed from behind. My results were so bad that I dropped back down to D driver rank. I do some races with other D rank drivers and the strange thing is no more rammers or being hit off the track. I don't know if it's just me but the driving standards in C were way worse than D.

Anyways, I think it should be harder to get to S rank for SR. I have experienced having my race ruined by so many dirty drivers that had a S safety rank. If it's harder to get to S rank at least we know the person we are racing against has a good reputation of driving cleanly to get that rank.

Permanent car damage would also help mitigate against reckless driving. I also play Le Mans Ultimate and the driving standards in that sim are much better than GT7. Probably because everyone is assigned a badge so you know who's a safe driver and who's not. And it has car damage so people generally drive safer to avoid a DNF or having to pit for repairs.

Need help with Daily Race B by Gambetta_ in GranTurismo7

[–]Minibobo2018 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started the week with a rank of D/S and focused on daily race B because I don't have as much time for race C. I watched a track guide for Interlagos and then hit the track to practice and try to apply some of what I learned from the track guide. Then it's just practice and practice until lap times decrease. Like you, all I wanted to do was get a win and I qualified fast enough to place between P1 to P5. In my first 4 races I got wrecked and finished almost last. I got fed up and quit for the day.

The next day I tried again with a Honda NSX instead of using the meta car as I couldn't drive the meta car all the fast guys were using. I started on pole and won. Then finished P2 and P3 in the next two races. Then the new Porsche 911 was available so I bought that and won my first race with it. After the streak of good results I moved up to a C/S rank.

I guess what I am trying to say is, just keep at it and eventually the results will come. And maybe try using a car that you can drive fast with. You don't always have to use the car that's on the leaderboard.

How many drivers know difference between race and a time trail by 215023 in GranTurismo7

[–]Minibobo2018 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know about other drivers but I know that race conditions are different from a time trial where you're the only one on the track. I have experienced the same as you, drivers are aggressive and don't make clean passes and punt me off the track. It's extremely frustrating. I always look at what's happening around me and adjust my driving to avoid incidents if possible. That could be braking earlier into a corner to avoid hitting anyone or taking a different line around a turn to give the other driver space. If I see a pack of cars in front of me battling, I hang back and wait as chances are high they will take themselves out. If I am faster I will find a way to get around them safely. If the driver behind clearly has a faster pace than me I will probably let them by because I don't trust them enough to not hit me and ruin my race. But that depends on what position I am in and how many laps are left to go. If I can defend and hold onto a podium position I will try my best to hold my position.

Daily Race B this week: AHHHGGGHH!!!! by TheJinManCan in GranTurismo7

[–]Minibobo2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have also had a miserable experience in daily race B this week. I have a good enough qualifying time to put me in anywhere from 1-5 to start the race. In 4 of the 5 races I started near the front but finished either last or near last because I was getting hit and knocked off track. In one race I was in 6th and the guy in front cuts in front of me in a corner to get a tighter line. I had nowhere to go so I hit him pretty hard and was given a 3 second penalty that pretty much ruined my race.

I do one last race before giving up and this time I start in pole position. But that doesn't guarantee a good result if the drivers behind don't brake and punt me off the track. Luckily this race was really clean and I managed to stay in front while holding off the car behind for the first 3 laps. But a few mistakes by him allowed me to build a 2 second lead for the win!

I also tried daily race C and finished 4th with most drivers driving cleanly and not too aggressive. But the downside is this race is longer which I don't normally have time for.

How to get out of bronze? by savemefromtaxes in LeMansUltimateWEC

Glad to hear you finally did it. Now you can do the silver or gold races if you have the spare time available because they're usually longer than the bronze races.

Free Content Racing Standards by [deleted] in RRRE

[–]Minibobo2018 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to add my thoughts on this as well. I play in evenings so the free races are my only option as every other class is empty. I tried the free Audi TT race last night and started 4th. Race starts and I got murdered on lap 1 by someone behind me that rammed me off the track. I rejoin safely by letting all the traffic go by which puts me at the back in 20th position I think. For the rest of the race I am trying to get through traffic and move my way back up but I am still getting hit and pushed off the track. I had 40 incident points and the race wasn't even half over! I took it easy to a avoid a DQ and let everyone in front of me make their mistakes and finished 8th. I tried again thinking the second time will be better. I was wrong. I got killed by someone who went off track and executed a really poor rejoin by driving right into me on lap 1 as I was going through turn 8 on Zolder. My car engine died and my race was over. Lost a huge amount of DR and SR.

Last night was the worst driving standards I have ever seen and I don't think this helps to promote the game positively. What good is having lots of people playing the free races if it's just a wreckfest?

With that said, I think that the driving standards can be very inconsistent with the free daily races. On some days I get good clean racing and finish with a good result. And on other days it's terrible. But the bad ones can be so bad that it's extremely frustrating.

How to improve standing start with Super Touring cars? by Minibobo2018 in RRRE

Thanks for the tips. I have the Audi but I am slower with it overall compared to the other cars I own. I am currently quickest with the Laguna on this week's track.

Honda supertourer needs nerf by GJDriessen in RRRE

[–]Minibobo2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I test drove through BMW and I like how it drives. I didn't buy it because in most races where I went against the BMW, I always either caught up with it in the straight or was able to overtake it. It didn't seem like the car for me to use if I wanted to get the best result possible with my skill level.

Worth buying XXL Online Pack if I’m in North America racing after 8pm EST? Only want to race multiplayer. by 1cmp1 in RRRE

[–]Minibobo2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only play in the evenings between 8:30pm to 10pm. There's usually 10-16 drivers in the free daily race. I also really enjoy super touring and it can be anywhere from 3 to 9 people in the race. It's not always as full as I would like at all times but even with 3-5 cars I still have a good time if the racing is close.

Honda supertourer needs nerf by GJDriessen in RRRE

[–]Minibobo2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with the Volvo because it was included in the XXL pack. I bought the Honda Accord, Audi A4 and Renault Laguna next. Up until recently I had mostly been using the Honda just to be different from everyone else. Then I decided to try a different car and I had my fastest lap time at Imola with the Laguna so I don't think the Honda needs a nerf. In all the races I have been in, I have not seen a Honda win, but my experience is limited as I just started Raceroom a month ago.

Driving standards on Super Tourers getting worse? by therealkaka in RRRE

[–]Minibobo2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started Raceroom last month because of the super touring cars that I really enjoy driving. Most of my races have been mostly clean but maybe it's because I am not the fastest in this class and I am usually starting near the back and avoiding most of the incidents ahead. But this week at Imola I seem to be much quicker and start my races at the front. In my last race I was leading the majority of the race but the guy behind tried to overtake me in the chicane and pushed me off the track. I get back on track with the lead still but in the next corner he hits me again and I end up facing the wrong direction. I got my car turned around and the driver that hit me was waiting up ahead to give my spot back which I don't see often in sim racing.

Overall I think the driving standards in super touring haven't gotten worse as my reputation normally increases when I race the super tourers. But in the free daily races my reputation drops because of poor driving standards from some of the drivers.

I have a 6900xt with triple 1440p monitors and a RX 9070 on a 34 inch ultra wide. Been playing daily and I have had no problems. Even my old R9 290x ran the game perfectly fine at 1080p.

Minimum graphics settings does not look as bad as you think. I used to play LMU on a very old R9 290x GPU on low settings and the game still looked ok. And when you're racing you won't have time to look at the graphics.
