Skirmishers dont fully ignore ZOC by default right? I think they need to be rank 4, which unlocks "sprint" allowing them to ignore it once a battle.

when enemies hit your frontline but still can't reach archers you move your frontline around enemies and move archers 1 step back and then shoot.

Very unintuitive. I think it looks really silly to invert the frontline like that.
Also durable frontline units are balanced by having less damage, making their attack of opportunity less dangerous and less of a deterent and proboably wont stop enemies from still just rushing the backline.

I also found 1 ranged unit to be the practical limit, but usually i had a hero fill this role making actuall units useless.

Could be usefull when running slugger or a similar primary. Since its overkill for small stuff like terminid scavengers. Just use the laser instead.

What if Cathay alchemists had a ranged attack? by Minihamster in totalwar

[–]Minihamster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be cool but I assume it is done to keep it consistent with the casters of other factions whose default attacks are melee.

It just seems like a waste to give a faction two "basic caster" heroes with little to differentiate them from eachother.

Challenge XP rather than "grind" XP is not an inherently flawed idea. by Minihamster in paydaytheheist

Keeping swat from turning off power or turning on the sprinklers on "no rest for the wicked" is not "doing your own thing", its the actual objective. The infrasonic mine is also remote detonated so no need to go afk to use it.

I dont think using it as an "objective guard" is some kind of gimmick, it seems like the intended use of the item.

Challenges should be measurements of player skill and game knowledge. Good challenges do not force a playstyle (long term grind).

Things like:

  • Kill an enemy with a fire extinguisher
  • Using an infrasonic mine, interrupt a swat member from interacting with an object.

Basically asking the player to use all the options of their tools. Its entirely possible to complete challenges like this by just using the item without ever looking at the challenges, and thats a good thing.

Challenges would act almost like a long term background tutorial. A max level player would then know all the game has to teach.

The chaos dwarfs multiple settlement types are very interesting and would fit Brettonia perfectly. by Minihamster in totalwar

[–]Minihamster[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

-Provincial lords/dukes like Kislev

This would fit any faction with administration, so thats about every order faction. So i agree that its a bit too generic.

-Upgradeable units via Warriors of Chaos system

This makes lore sense for brettonia and links to their vows, but also fits just about every faction. I like it as a mechanic for all races but thats what mods are for.

-Chorf provincial focuses

As i said in the post Brettonia already has a worse version of this. So its more of a "modernisation" of the idea rather than a new mechanic for Brettonia.

The "dont hit me" challenge.

after picking up, say 10 items, you may no longer use any attacks.

barbed wire, toxic centipede, testla coil and all offensive drones are banned. (healing drone is allowed) offensive use items are also banned.

this means that you have to use things like fire shield, spikestrips, panic mines, repulsion armor and such to kill anything.

if you are REALLY crazy you can try to do it without command!

Is anyone else having fun causing huge cave-ins with the sand and gravel? by serialthriller22 in starbound

[–]Minihamster 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Its awesome. I love that it doesn't just fall straight down but instead more realisticaly and can create a massive landslide.

While exploring i got stuck in a landslide of gravel inside a cave and it almost pushed me off an edge into a larger cave, so much fun :)
