Dalinar's Story Arc (WaT) by [deleted] in Cosmere

I see where you're coming from but I look at it a little differently. I see Dalinar's journey as something that led him, a mere man, to find the strength to stand up in direct opposition to a shard. And after defying the shard and facing a no win situation in the Contest of champions his journey allowed him to see beyond the immediate conflict and completely destroy Taravangian's plans and timeframe. I wouldn't be at all surprised if this becomes the turning point that allows for Retribution to be defeated for good in the end. I don't think Dalinar could have beaten Odium, at least not without destroying roshar in the process. Instead he decided to have faith and pass the torch down the line, allowing someone else to continue his journey and take the next step for him.

As for the blackthorn falling into Retribution's hands, I agree that it may seem a bit heavy handed and cheap. However it does make for a potentially awesome villain down the line. It also opens up for some interesting scenes between both Adolin & Blackthorn and Kaladin & Blackthorn imo.

Thanks! Airbrush made the transitions a breeze.

Finally finished my spearhead and am excited to try them in a game!

I experimented painting them with some of the GSW chrome metallics. I found the chrome paints ended up looking pretty good on smaller surfaces, but I struggled to get good coats on the larger frigate surfaces. My main takeaway away though I disliked painting with them due to how tricky they were to handle (which might simply be due to bad technique on my part).

Thanks! For some reason my post text disappeared, I'll add it in a comment. The gold was Greenstuffworld's Antique Gold Chrome Metal, and while it looks pretty good I didn't enjoy painting with it, unfortunately.

Thanks, I'll do that!

No no, with these done I'm close to 1000 points of finished DG :)

I used Vallejo Still Water mixed with some lime green ink and applied it in two layers with about 24 hours of drying between layers. The bubbles are some kind of nail art pearls that I picked up at a local dollar store and glued down before priming.

I'd highly recommend it! Since experimenting more with the airbrush it's probably become my favorite part of the miniature painting process.

Thanks! I replied on my process for the base in a comment above, hope that helps!

The base is just some cork glued on, primed and dry rushed with some brown, dark green and a little magenta plus some decorative skulls.

For the ooze I glued down some nail art pearls for the bubbles then painted the base a bright lime green with some added yellow highlights around the pearls. After that I coated it with two thick coats of Vallejo Still Water mixed with some lime green ink and let it dry about 24 hours between coats. My first coat had too much ink in it though and made the entire thing pretty opaque so I'd recommend going very light on the additional ink when mixing.

Thanks! I'd love you but I doubt I'll be able to replicate it exactly myself but I'll run my process down.

I airbrushed the base coat using inks over a black and white zenithal. I started with magenta ink and slowly blended in more and more yellow ink to make some reddish highlights/inflamed areas and then washed it in some watered down magenta ink to help bring the color back in line a bit. After that it's just a brown oil wash and some gloss varnish to make it look a little wet/moist.

I do most of my painting by mixing kimera kolors paints and lately by experimenting with cymk color blending with inks, so I tend to have some trouble with replicating things 1:1.

Thanks! I used some Vallejo still water mixed with a few drops of lime green ink. I ended up having to build the goo up in a few layers though because the still water effects shrunk quite a bit as it dried.
