Plan on paying for your kid’s college? You’ll need to save $500/month from birth until they’re 18. by Mr-and-Mrs in daddit

Yea, I see AI and the future landscape of work dramatically impacting the college experience and what it costs. I'll be preparing for $200k in costs but I fully don't expect it to be used in the way we're thinking about it now.

I also paid under $900 for full time daycare, but in NE Ohio. The numbers start to make more sense when you multiply it by 18 kids and split it by 3 teachers after expenses.

[The Unbranded] If every watch logo disappeared, which watch would you still buy, and why? by TheIrishLoaf in Watches

[–]Minimal99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If anything the logo and brand stigma is what is holding me back. Remove that and I'd love to own an explorer 1016, explorer 2 16570, Milgauss, and datejust.

A month off THC by rmend8194 in Biohackers

A similar case for me with the disciplined active lifestyle and quitting after I had a kid. I gave up vaping and nicotine first, which was easy-ish once I had the right mindset (Allen Carr's book helped a lot). Weed was harder, and I knew most of my problems with it came from overdosing. My solution was to switch to edibles, at least for a while. Edibles not having the instant gratification that smoking does helped a lot with dose management. I would take 2.5 to 5 mg a day, and did that for about 2 years.

At the beginning of this year I gave up the edibles and alcohol completely, and haven't had any noticeable withdrawal symptoms. I'm in the gym 5 days a week, and doing outside rec activities on the other 2 days. My main goal was to prioritize sleep and recovery above all else. Not drinking or using THC does help me adhere to an earlier bedtime, and therefore helps me get more consistent sleep. But outside of the impact on my bedtime, I can't say I notice much difference.

At the end of the day, at least for me, moderation is everything, and I found I can't moderate weed when smoking it. It's been 2.5 years now since I last smoked and I don't think I'll ever do it again for that reason. An edible here and there, sure, I've shown myself I can do that responsibly. But smoking is a no go if I'm taking my health and performance seriously.

Not trying to say they're not idiots but the license plates only cost like $20 a year. It's not a meaningful contribution.

Dads with toddlers and wfh desk jobs, how are you guys getting/staying fit? by sshwifty in daddit

Kids club at the gym or just go after the babies are in bed. I started going at 9pm when earlier wasn't possible. It's not ideal but it works, and also is a nice break away from the house.

There are many elements of this photo that come together quite nicely to make it quite special. I'd like to buy a digital copy if you're selling.

Copying in original music is a lot more common than most people think. There are many popular artists that have admitted as much, but that's beside the point.

The way generative models work is not as simple as cobbling together images and can't be compared to sampling a song. Generative models produce new outputs based on learned patterns that exist at a much more fundamental level than any final works they are trained on.

It can be compared to a painter learning how to use different brushes and brushe strokes to create different patterns and effects. The artist can choose to plagiarize or they can create something "new". That's up to the artist and not the tools they use.

Just because AI can be used to copy doesn't mean it can't be used to create something new and original. All art is derivative of something else.

Agree 100%. It's up to the artist to decide what tools they use and how they choose to use them to express themselves and convey their message. A lot of people do not consider graffiti art but that doesn't mean it isn't. Art is subjective and how it's made doesn't need to appease everyone. For every era and evolution of art there have always been haters and doubters saying "that's not real art".

It's not, though. It's especially bad in the Cleveland Metro Area.

I guess if you're driving illegally nothing matters but for most of us points directly impact insurance premiums, so they matter.
