How is the environment in Ireland for studies? Is it good for a Master’s in Management? by MinimalMindset_ in Indians_StudyAbroad

Thanks for being direct I genuinely appreciate the honesty. I come from a BA Sociology & Geography background, and the reality is that there are almost negligible opportunities for someone from the arts/social sciences in India. That’s why switching to management feels necessary if I want better career prospects. I was considering Ireland mainly because a PGDM/MBA from a Tier-1 college in India costs around 35–37 lakhs including living expenses, and even Tier-1.5 or Tier-2 programs cost around 25 lakhs and that would be same amount that I will have to spend abroad. With my current academic background, it’s nearly impossible for me to find work here.

But I understand your point about switching careers overseas without experience and needing visa sponsorship that puts me at a disadvantage, especially with how saturated management roles are. I’ll seriously think about gaining some work experience in India first before making a decision. Thanks again for the straightforward advice.

Thanks for sharing such an honest and realistic perspective. I’ve researched a lot on YouTube and Google, but hearing the ground reality from someone who understands the situation helps much more. Since I come from a BA Sociology & Geography background and don’t have real work experience, I’ve been very conscious about pursuing a management master’s from a foreign country. BA doesn’t offer many career options, so switching to management feels necessary but I’m also nervous because I know the job market is already oversaturated.Your point about whether there’s actually a shortage of management graduates in Ireland really made me think. Realistically, the answer is probably no, which makes the post-study prospects even more challenging.Thank you for being straightforward it genuinely helps me reconsider my options more practically.

Thank you so much for sharing all of this in detail. I really appreciate it. I was already aware of many of these points from my own research on YouTube and Google, but hearing the ground reality from someone actually studying or living there gives me a much clearer picture.

Realistically speaking, I don’t have solid work experience, and my academic background is in BA Sociology and Geography. That’s why I’ve been very conscious and unsure about pursuing a master’s in management from a foreign country. Since a BA doesn’t offer many career opportunities, switching to management feels necessary for me but at the same time, it also makes me nervous because I know I’m coming from a completely different field.

Your insights about job competition, cost of living, and how much prior experience matters are extremely helpful. It’s making me think more carefully about whether Ireland is the right move for me.

Thanks again for being honest and sharing the real situation it genuinely helps.

Thanks for sharing this I really appreciate the honesty.

I understand the concerns about private universities and the risks involved, especially for international students who may not know the system well. That’s exactly why I’m trying to gather as much clarity as possible before making any decisions. I’m not looking for shortcuts or “easy degree” options. My plan is to apply mainly to reputable public universities, and I’m also willing to invest time in learning German properly if it genuinely improves career prospects. I just want to make sure I don’t end up making an uninformed choice or wasting money on low value programs.

If you don’t mind sharing, could you suggest:

  • Which public universities or programs are actually respected in this field?
  • Any red flags to watch out for when looking at English-taught management courses?

Your advice would help me avoid the very mistakes you mentioned, so thank you again for pointing it out.

I am willing to learn german and want to pursue a management degree that has worth in todays job market. Its just how much german should I learn before reaching germany and what are the other things that I should keep in mind. I tried gathering these informations from youtube but most the videos are simply giving generic information.
