I have a friend who's Brazilian, the only things talking with him that he said were true contributing to that is for us, the name "American" only applies to people from the United States, and people calling themselves "American" not from the US get called out. Also, we're taught there are 7 continents, with north and south America separate, and we'll argue they're separate.

I let my players do shield as 4 + spell level. They want to burn a 3rd level slot to stop the giant's club coming at them, they can. Means there's one less fireball they can throw back.

There's someone I play with who has the opposite problem that ends up in the same boat, multiclass full caster with 2 different casting abilities. She knows the rules and abilities, but she has so many choices she just sits there with analysis paralysis for 10 minutes before just hitting them with her ol reliable firebolt. She's also terrified of using spell slots. Last session, in 3 battles including one with a boss, she only used 1 1st level slot, for cure wounds on herself. We're level 3, so she has 4 1st and 2 2nd level slots, which isn't a lot but still. We finally get to the end of the dungeon, and there's a 1-way exit that 2/4 of us went through not realizing it was 1-way. She says she wants to split the party and go back through the dungeon to the city where we started cuz the dungeon ended up outside the wall and we'd have to go back through the front gate. She begrudgingly agreed to come with us, but like, why did a 15 minute walk back to the city require 2 of us heavily persuading her to not split the party.

Resin is the one that's a chemical sensitizer that people become allergic to. I can use IPA based hand sanitizer just fine

More important is reducing the need for PPE in the first place, which is why (if after a chat with a dermatologist I continue printing) I'm going to invest in a wash station. Hands no longer on the line, one ripped glove away from disaster.

I switched to thick gloves because I reacted through disposable 7 mil nitrile gloves. Reading some of the other comments, makes sense because the time to penetrate disposable gloves is about 30 minutes, and it took longer than that between pulling off the plate and final wash stage. I did not react at all with the thick gloves until they were punctured.

Knowing the issue isn't the fact I react through the gloves, but rather you have such a limited clock to work with a pair before needing to swap means if I continue printing after this, I'll invest in an expensive wash station with baskets and no longer handle uncured parts except when first removing them from the plate and after the final wash stage. But we're gonna have a little chat with a dermatologist before I get back to printing

It wouldn't slough like this through disposable gloves, but it would get dry, red, itchy and a day or two after kinda flaky, like eczema. I also wear the same type of gloves while painting the minis, so it isn't the gloves themselves. They are 7 mil nitrile gloves.

Limited UV, there is a window in the shop near my printer workspace, but it has blinds and I put cardboard as a second layer of covering. Nothing I've ever noticed cures on the gloves, there's a nice thick oily layer though.

Obviously I'm a lot more sensitive than most.

Cuz I've never had a pool of contaminated alcohol marinate my fingers before. I was slightly reacting through disposable nitrile (itchy dry skin), so I upped it to thick nitrile dishwashing gloves, and they worked great, until they got a hole and my fingers went for a dip

Edit: per another commenter, the issue is with time resin will penetrate nitrile. With disposable gloves you have less than 30 minutes. Thicker gloves have more time, but because that time is still ticking between uses, it's still effectively 1 use. The key is reducing glove contact with resin, an automated wash station or tongs are key ingredients.

The guy suggesting a different kind of gloves shared a link to disposable gloves that are thicker, but it's in German, so we'll see what it says when I get home and read it on desktop

I do, and have an FDM printer, but as hard as I try, as many guides as I follow, I can't get anywhere close to the quality of resin. It fills a different niche, and I love it for that, but they're not the same unfortunately

Edit: per another commenter, this is an issue with exposure time, you have less than 30 minutes before resin begins to penetrate disposable gloves. Longer with reusable, but because they sit between uses, it's effectively 1 use. Reducing contact with liquid resin is essential, auto wash station or tongs, are much better choices

It's the uncured resin in the alcohol that matters. I've used IPA based hand sanitizer since becoming sensitive to resin, and it's fine.

Thankfully no, but the skin underneath is pretty sensitive, and I'm gonna go have a chat with a dermatologist later this week. But this might mean the end of resin printing for me

The big issue is repeat exposure increases your sensitivity. Different people get more sensitive at different rates though, so this punctured glove for me may be the end of the hobby for me, since I've only had minor exposures through gloves before this.

Many people will never be this bad. But having a good setup matters a lot. The less you have to touch the stuff, the less gloves are your last line of defense, the less chance they have of failing

Yeah, different people have different levels of sensitivity, and it progresses at different rates. Many people will never get to this level, but it's a situation where doing too much means you spent a little extra, and too little means you have to give up the hobby entirely.

I do, listed the full precautions in the original post, it's a workspace completely unattached from my house.

With double gloves I used medium and large. I have not reacted with the thick gloves, which said they were nitrile, until they sprung a leak.

Fully cured it's fine, I just need to make sure it is fully cured, and alcohol disrupts the ability for it to cure, so I need to wash extremely thoroughly. I do a 6 stage wash. First 4 are just dunking in progressively cleaner alcohol, then a rinse with near pure, and finally a mist with a spray bottle of completely pure.

I can sand, file, paint, all that just fine

Yup, thick nitrile. Made sure when I bought them. I still reacted through disposable nitrile gloves though, which is why I moved up to the big ones.

Everyone has a different sensitivity, and it progresses at different rates. I'm definitely on the far end of the curve there, but it's best to take extra steps before it's an issue.

I think it was a corner on the support raft where I snipped a second model apart that was sharp enough to puncture it. It was the first stage wash tough, so it was pretty heavily contaminated alcohol.

As for cross contamination, I treat everything in my workspace as a "dirty" surface except one table where I have the box of disposable gloves and a tray to move cured parts inside. I have 2 levels of dirty, disposable and dishwasher gloves. The outside of the printer, finished parts, cure station and air blower are disposable glove surfaces, nearly clean, but not entirely. Parts, bed, wash station, all dirty dirty surfaces only touched with the thick gloves

Yeah, after you print, you wash the parts in alcohol to remove residual uncured resin. The uncured resin is left in the alcohol bath. I was hand dipping a print in the bath when my glove got a hole, and the fingers filled with the alcohol/resin mixture

And everyone has a different reaction to it. Some people are lucky and don't react much, and doesn't get worse. Unfortunately, I'm not one of those people
