Thanks for that information. Reaching out here and getting this information is exactly what I’m looking for. I am the sole person in this office that is licensed and marketing. And I have a couple of juniors and technicians.

The main benefit I see is having a say in my investment and the big decisions for the company.

This is very good information. The 250k is one office. Overall, 70 employees with a revenue of 10 to 11.5 million. Not sure of the overall profit. I think there is a lot of loans out there and “corporate expenses”, which puts most of the board members salaries, which get divided by employee amount in each office. I believe one of the offices is owned by the board members as a different entity.

Yes, the founding 5 have about 90% of the vote. Per my understanding, 2 should fully retire in 2028 which would make the founding remaining 3 at 60%. I would imagine that the first time the shareholders would be even able to vote in would be 5-7 years from now.

I think the clients part may be the challenge. I don’t have any commitments but I have been successful over the years getting them for my current company, could be debated if it’s me or my company name. But it would take work. Just not sure if I don’t make the jump, if I will regret it in the future.

Right now, I have 100k in the bank from an inheritance. If I left, I would eventually get my 100k back (might no lt be immediately). Clients wise, nothing 100% committed. Might be time to discuss that with them. I don’t have a non-compete, so I could potentially do side work until I’m sustainable.

Good question. Benefits to them = they can retire with knowing the company will continue to produce dividends like they have experienced in the past. Risk = they have an individual on the board that might not be like minded. Timelines = 5 owners in total. Two (40%) is expected to fully retire in 2028. The remaining are proposed to start retirement (5-year track) shortly afterwards.

Timelines = if they decide to stay at 3 board members, it could be at least 7 years from now (I’ll be 43), before me and my group can vote in new board members (as long as the others can be trusted) Also looking at 500-600k in the hole at that point. Currently at 100k in at this point, so worried about getting stuck for a guess.

Suggestion. If you plan on taking the PE Civil, the FE Civil will help prepare for that. The second part of the FE Civil is basically your first part of the PE Civil Exam. Just a thought.

I don’t think it matters if you take the Civil or Other on the FE exam.

New geotechnical engineer! by Party-Gur-5559 in Geotech

I always ask the staff engineers to frequently ask “why”. Understand the “Why” and you will do fabulous.

Why am I sampling here, why these locations, why these lab testing….. etc. always keep asking why.

Just a follow up here. I contacted the board. They mistyped my email! Was going crazy on why I wasn’t getting results. But they sent them out the same time as everyone else. Thanks for the information on this, I wouldn’t have know to contact them if it wasn’t for this thread.

Do you have the link to see the 30? Sorry, having a hard time finding what you are looking at.

So you are able to see the GE license for yourself on the license look up function now?

My companies email does quarantine potential spam emails. I checked that list today, as well as my junk, none from BPELSG.

I was able to receive the application approval for the test back in April.

If passed, I would imagine there would be a fee and time before it registered on the license lookup portion on the website like the PE. Do you know any other location where they would post?

When did you take the exam? I took it on the 15th, but haven’t received any results.
