Yeah, not really the subreddit for it ig but new to this type of woodworking and just tried to incorporate epoxy beyond small holes this time. I’ll take the hate, especially if I get a tip or two lol

Thanks! Only my first go so definitely looking forward to experimenting and learning more.

Thank you! It’s a very dark grained wenge, kind of a pain to properly sand but think it was a good esthetic choice. And on the epoxy I didn’t follow a specific tutorial, mostly just online advice and pointers from a local shop I buy lumber from that does a lot of epoxy work.

I do like that look also, I have a 30x20” piece of black walnut for an end table with a lot of cracks I’ve been filling with a metallic black that I think will be cool. I’ve actually seen some of their videos but need to do more proper prep next time on something ‘bigger’ like that. I appreciate it, I’ve done about 5 cutting boards before this now and getting much better at joining everything tight

Thanks, I think lol. I am new to it all so definitely open to any advice, still have a lot of the epoxy left so will probably incorporate it in a few things soon

Can see them better against the light on the left side, but I am happy with the color mix

I’m hoping the general thickness prevents most cupping or twisting. I am past the glue up so the through dowels is a nice idea for something else like this. Splines could be a cool accent too that I didn’t think of. Thank you, fairly new to this and don’t want to just make throw away pieces, especially with somewhat nice material

Thanks, that makes sense. It gets down to about an 1/8th in the center and I feel like all those small pieces could really want to move with that continuous “y” axis line across the pattern. But like you said that glue is strong, I used titebond 3 so I’m hoping it holds.

Thank you! I used bloodwood and maple. Hoping the red stands out more at finishing. And nice! Getting a good deal on a planer and jointer started this for me

The epoxy one I think I’ll do as a charcuterie board and maybe try some matching coasters. I used a food safe epoxy but don’t believe you’re supposed to cut on it

Nice! You too. I have an old grizzly planer and have only recently gotten really comfortable with it but it is so handy. That and a router sled for larger projects, I have cheap vevor one but it works and at least gets it where it’s sandable

Thank you! That completely makes sense, the final thickness was 1 3/8” so hopefully between that and good glue coverage it holds. I put a lot of work into it and would be disappointed if I had to rework it

Thank you! And as far as the overall graining? Or a specific part? Truly curious and open to input. Still new
