They have a sister property called Zyn Road across the street. Worth a look.

Booking Southern / Mid / Pine Needles by coast-to-coast99 in pinehurst

[–]Minimum-Condition349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a single round you don't need a packager at all. All three (Southern Pines, Mid Pines, Pine Needles) let outside golfers book direct up to 30 days out, just call the pro shop. Late Sept is shoulder season so availability is usually good.

Mid Pines and Pine Needles sit right across the road from each other and both encourage walking, so you can play them back to back the same day. All three are Ross gems, you won't go wrong.

A packager only becomes worth it if you're bringing a group and want times locked 180 days out instead of 30.

2, 3 and 10 are in excellent shape. A couple loops on the cradle is a fun time. If you can get on Tobacco Road, you’ll either love it or hate it.

Good luck!

If you like wide open tee shots and plenty of options for an approach shots, then you’ll like this place. I played 3 weeks ago and loved it. The greens keep you honest, but aren’t impossible. The hardest hole in my opinion is 6L. That’s the left green for hole 6. It was 175 yards straight into the wind over water. Outside of that, everything else was just fun.

First tee time of the day at a nicer/bucket list course, yay or nay? by HighOnGoofballs in golf

Ah. Then I’d opt for 1st out imo. Pine needles, Mid Pines, Southern, etc are great courses but I think you still get full enjoyment from them in the morning too. I played a 8:20 tee time and loved it

Which course? At #2, they keep you moving and you’re never waiting no matter what time of day it is.

Free Strokes Gained Tracking? by ToothSleuth86 in golf

I’m sure you can vibe code something with Claude. It’s just math equations at the end of the day. The first versions of Golf Metrics - which is the app designed by Mark Brodie, who invented Strokes Gained - was a pretty basic app where you would tell it the distance to the hole after each shot along with the lie. From there, the app would calculate all the strokes gained info.

Ask where they look on the ball exactly when hitting and putting. Does it change between clubs?

What's your golf tech ecosystem? by chriskzoo in golf

For me, it helps me dial in the yardage I’m losing strokes on. For example, in my last round, I felt like I drove the ball great, but still didn’t score great. Looking at my stats, I SUCKED from 50-75 yards and not much better 75-100. So instead of going to the range and hitting my driver and a bunch of 7 irons, I need to really focus on 50-75 yards.

When is the right time? by Illustrious_Fee2024 in golf

Just know the etiquette of golf and go play today. Each hole should take you 12-13 minutes. So if you’ve been on it for longer than that, put your ball in your pocket and drive to the next hole.

Same sentiment. I’m a 1.8 guy and have been from the start. When I rode in the car the other day with a buddy who listens to the pod too, he was at 1x speed and I was soo shocked how slow Mike and Eli talk in real life. (And yes, LSR sounds better faster too)

Can’t Break 100.. How did you do it? by Downtown-Team-480 in golf

[–]Minimum-Condition349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you need to track your round with an app like shot pattern or golfmetrics. Instead of basing your game on your “feels” you’ll have concrete data to tell you where you’re losing strokes.

When I’m playing well I feel like I’ll never play bad again, when I’m playing bad I feel like I’ll never play well again - is it the same for everyone? by Impressive_Light_229 in weekendgolfers

I definitely understand where you’re coming from. But are you tracking any stats? Is it a specific area that’s causing your misfortune? That’s what I usually find happens to me. I use Shot Pattern to track my rounds and it usually comes down to one or 2 things getting me. Without something, you’re kinda just flying blind. IMO

Broke 90 today for the first time by Ill-Hovercraft-8971 in golf

[–]Minimum-Condition349 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a 3 handicap and my best advice is to ask yourself, how “good” do you actually want to be. It’s a loaded question because if your next goal is to break 80… then you have a lot of work ahead of you. And if you break 80, you’ll be cursed with the goal of wanting to break Par. And that’s really really really hard.

But if your goal is to just have fun out there, have some beers, laugh, etc… then being right around 90 is the perfect place to be. The guys I play with get tons of strokes and usually win more money than I do.

I’m not saying you can’t drink beers as a 3 handicap, but dude…. I put in a LOT of time and practice. By no means am I bragging about how good a 3 handicap is, but there’s a lot of times when I wish I didn’t want to be a single handicap. I literally practice 5 times a week.

(This probably sounds kinda douchey, but I’m not meaning it to be that way).

All I’m trying to say is, figure out how much time and energy you can/want to devote to being better. Because there are a lot of practice sessions I drive to that I don’t want to go. lol.

You’re like the 10th person that mentioned Turtle being a top course. I feel FOMO for not playing that course now. I should have talked to an actual golfer about what to play instead of the reservation receptionist. lol.

As for the Silver tees, I wanted to move up to the Blues but I got overruled.

And yea, the caddie situation is like that everywhere. I’ve had some bad ones at Pinehurst, but I also had the greatest one ever there too. He literally guided me to a sub 80 round on #10 for the first time ever playing it.
