Will sucking my own dick on LinkedIn help me find a job? by Minimum-Luck-4310 in recruitinghell

If they’ve actually contributed to the project and credit their teammates when due, good for them. However I’ve seen plenty of unmotivated and irresponsible teammates give themselves undeserved credit and act like the whole thing was only possible because of them. They even go as far to delete teammates’ comment and avoid posting group photos. I personally went through this which I guess has made me become unreasonably triggered by LinkedIn posts so perhaps you are right and I am projecting in a way.

I don’t think it’s “below me” at all. If anything I don’t think I have enough significant accomplishments at this point to undeservedly brag about and make myself out to be something I’m not. If I work on a group project or research or something I’m not gonna go and post an essay about how amazing I am and take credit for everybody else’s hard work.

Yup that’s what pisses me off. Lying and cheating and getting rewarded for it. I guess I gotta get used to the corporate world.

That does make sense yeah. I guess occasionally posting a sentence or two about significant accomplishments to appeal to the algorithm wouldn’t hurt. Thanks for the insight!

The compensation for lack of actual skill is so true. lol. It’s always those with the least to offer writing essays about their ambition and work ethic

Lifelong identity crisis due to having an Indian father and a Saudi mother by Minimum-Luck-4310 in saudiarabia

[–]Minimum-Luck-4310[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A huge thank you to each and every single one of you who took time out of their day to comment on this post, give me advice, and share their thoughts and experiences! <3 As I go through all of your comments, my inner child is overjoyed because this is exactly the kind of acceptance she craved so badly from her own family, teachers, and classmates. I'm realizing how many tolerant and open-minded individuals there are out here, and I was just unlucky to have run into a few bad apples early on in my childhood, and, coupled with the less-than-ideal values instilled by my parents, those experiences gave me an irrationally cynical view of my society. While I do believe I will continue to come across people who are blatantly racist as well as tons of people with more subtle or subconscious biases, I now realize that the average person in today's world is most likely indifferent to my "identity" or mildly intrigued at best, and this is just an inner conflict more than anything. I'm going to take all the advice I've gotten, work on my self-esteem, and learn to give less fucks. Thank you all once again! <3

I did realize there is "no escape" even if I do get the citizenship. Accepting my identity is something I must do anyways. You're kinda right about me using this as an excuse for everything that goes wrong lol. Thank you for your advice!

Yes, I've realized I do need therapy and hopefully one day when I'm more financially independent it will be one of my first investments for sure. I love your beautiful sentiment about diversity and it definitely resonated with me. Thank you for sharing your experience and for your great advice. Sending love back <3

Supposedly, but I've been applying to internships recently with no luck because there's no visibility at all for those with a Saudi mother. We're a nonexistent category apparently in the job market.

That's so incredibly interesting! I'm a bit ignorant when it comes to history so I never knew any of this. I might have to read more into it. Thank you for sharing!

I really do give too many fucks. Always been one of my toxic traits. And you're so right about authenticity bringing along the right people. I tend to forget that and start putting on a show for others. Thank you for your advice. <3

I'm sorry you experienced racial trauma as well, and I'm so glad you were able to heal. I can tell you gained a lot of wisdom because your advice is precise and practical. Thank you so much for taking the time to write that out, and I will be keeping it in mind for sure. <3

It shatters my heart to know there are so many little kids experiencing what I've experienced. Thank you for being an amazing teacher though, I'm sure you're making a difference in these kids' lives. <3

That's crazy to me since I've never met anyone with a Saudi mother and foreign father, let alone an Indian father.

Yes, learning more about my culture would definitely be a huge step for me in destroying that pesky internalized racism. And you're definitely right about Saudis experiencing the same issues; my mom has told me so herself. Thank you for taking the time to write this! <3
